Noticed that hes now plying his trade for Opoel Nicosia of Cyrpus who have just qualified for the Champions League knock out stages by drawing away at Zenit St Petersburg. Liked the look of this guy but didn't quite do enough to earn himself a permanent deal during his short stint with us last season.
Looked like he had bags of ability, just obviously didn't fit into NPs plans and maybe struggled settling in England and adapting to English football. He's one who I feel we let get away from us though..
He had talent on the ball, however off it he was pretty useless. There are a lot of similarities between him and Koren, however Koren is good enough to be forgiven for not helping out defensively, Belaid probably isn't.
I think the fact that he signed for a cypriot club instead of another english one maybe gives away some of the reason why he struggled to get a deal here, he can't have been happy livng in this country. In fact a mate of mine lived right near him at the marina and said he was a miserable bastard
Sounded postive about being in England as I recall and was often seen with other team mates at photo shoots at local schools etc representing City.
