I know it's his first game in a long time so perhaps should cut him some slack, but I have to say that yesterday was without doubt one of the worst and most inept performances I have ever seen by a Norwich City full back, it was embarrassing to watch and he didn't once seem to learn from the copious amount of mistakes he kept making from the very first whistle.
Before the game he came charging out, fists pumping and looking bang up for it. Then the whistle went and he just lost interest, letting Duff do whatever he wanted and getting caught horribly out of position every single time the ball came down that side. Me and the chap next to me kept commenting on it every five minutes but he still didn't learn from his mistakes, it really was embarrassingly bad.

Like I said, it's only his first game back after a long lay off so I should cut him some slack as he was awesome this time last year, but unless we see a rapid and big improvement next week the signing of Garrido couldn't have come at a better time.

Think he was just one of many who had an off-day Munky, wouldn´t lay all the blame at his door, 7 days now to put right all that went wrong yesterday.

Agree with RBF, it was a team effort and not much of one at that. Lets see what happens next Saturday, if we can beat QPR we will be a little bit happier, if we get a "performance" to go with it, we will start to forget yesterdays inept effort <ok>

Like I said after his appointment, Chris Hughton took a top class set of Newcastle players out of the Championship and that's it. He was a terrible appointment, the board has shown no desire to invest to stay in the division and your goose is cooked.

It was a terrible team performance but nobody was worse than Tierney yesterday. Sorry if you don't like me picking out specific players, but that first half display right in front of me was the worst I can remember and therefore for me is a point worth making

Not disagreeing that Tierney was shocking but as a unit the entire defence went AWOL and that did nothing to help his cause, hence it was a team effort. He has been out of action for a hell of a time and I am certainly prepared to "cut him some slack" as we know how good he can be <ok>

Surely the point of pre-season games against quality sides like Ajax and Borussia Monchengladbach is to eradicate these schoolboy errors and work on shape/movement on and off the ball before there are points riding on it.

Watching yesterday's shocking performance, you'd think the boys only got back off their holidays on Saturday lunchtime, and had a beer in the King's Road before sauntering off to the game <yikes>

It wasn't only Tierney from Alan Hansen's analysis of the goals. It was the whole backline out of shape. You can't blame one player for that, it's not even a coaching issue because it's such a basic part of defending - it's a motivational issue.

Please excuse us if we don't take Alan Hansens advise. He's only marginally less of a twat than lawro

But if an Ipswich fan is talking to us about poor team motivation I guess we should listen.

Beefy when it comes to opinions I agree completely. Gary Neville and Ray Wilkins are the only pundits whose opinions are valuable.

But the film wasn't opinion, time and again a forward was played on by a straggling defender and it wasn't just Tierney.

If it's lack of motivation or fear factor as someone else suggested then we know very well what that's like, thankfully those days are behind us.

I see Tierney has already reverted back to the League One player you bought… Must be a worry since it’s only been a few months since Lambchops and Culverhouse left the aviary. <bubbly>

And took Birmingham to playoffs with a transfer embargo and selling a lot of their players whilst also taking them reasonable well in Europe.

    Just rubbish he is.

Garrido should be available next week so Tierney not done himself any favours by the sound of it

Duff made Tierney look like an absolute mug for the first goal because he feel asleep and his positioning was off. Petric gave Turner a complete and utter run around yesterday. I'd say three of the goals were more down to poor marking. That penalty shouldn't of never happened we were committing suicide passing the ball like that straight after a corner on the outside of our box.

Let's also remember the midfield were not that great too they all looked like they were still holiday.

    he was bloody useless yesterday...

i remember thinking how decent we looked just before ruddy fluffed his clearance - dont know if that gave them the push they needed but after that we didnt look like the same team...
