    17:45 Listowel - Goldinthevalleys

Well-bred debutante, probable favourite, should play a big part in this Flat race for 4YO's only over 2m on soft ground. Mr. Derek O'Connor rides for the Martin Brassil stable.

5/2 (Wm.Hilll) best price early-doors, on the ATR site.

With the current reported state of the going and the weather forecast combined, it looks like the Cambridgeshire meeting is going to be a write off for betting purposes unless the rain manages to avoid Newmarket; and little surprise that it is already Soft at Haydock for Saturday. Ironic that the going report for The Curragh on Saturday is still “Good-Good to Firm in places” as we usually get the rain after them but the forecast shows them getting some today.

No doubt fans of slow old plodders will welcome rain for Market Rasen’s Saturday fixture and Worcester on Friday.

NR Swanee. But made me have a quick look and I think I'll go for the Yeats gelding, William Butler. Out of a Flemensirth mare. Not a bad horse himself, once btn 2¾L by one of my favourites Celtic Swing in the French Derby and won the Italian Derby (also won the Prix Dollar 2 years running). His sire was the double Arc winner Alleged (great grandson of my favourite horse Ribot)

    Currently 11/2
