We are not saying Loius is crap, we are saying its time to stop being sentimental and move the club forward.

And look at that video that LAN put up the other day against Blackburn when they scored 5 Louis was playing in that game.

I hope so, I think he has been a great servant to the club. But we have been saying even you get rid of the lot of them.

So if we are going for and getting McFadzean, then why oh why do we need Fontaine and Carey and Nyatanga?

I agree Carey is the best of the bunch of central defenders we have but his body slows down every month now. I just cannot see the logic behind it.

Keeping Carey, Nyatanga, J Wilson and Fontaine don't give us any leeway for more defenders under FFP rules.

Headless chickens and idiotic inmates still running Bristol City FC!

The only ones i would keep are Heaten,Carey,Maloney,Cunningham,Kelly,Anderson,Taylor,Elliott.

    Stead,,Skuse,Adomah will be gone.

The rest can all go do not rate any of the rest from the current first team.

Exactly. This pretty much means we have the same defence for next season as played most games this year - the WORST defence
in the whole football league! I have aways admired Carey as a genuine City stalwart but we need room to TRANSFORM the
defence - not just add maybe one new face. Doesn't give me much hope of a new start. If we're bringing in 2 new CBs - which
is what is needed - what are Fontaine, Wilson, Carey and Tanglefoot gonna do all year apart from add to the debt pile???

City would not be in this position if other players had Carey's professionalism.yet another manager and a new director of football have chose to retain him. Prat, **** player, losers mentality weird how he has played 600 games !! Comic stuff.

check my comment to wiz, wasn't reffering to him as the prat, more the other journey men who have plagued this club

And I stand by my opinion, i don't think carey is good enough, and hasn't been for a while.. when fontaine and nyatanga take your place in the team something is massively wrong..

Not sure I agree about Louis and the contract thing - rather, I expect he will be "Mr Bristol City" in the dressing room, there to lead and set an example to our youngsters who he has known for a very long time...

As for Nyatanga, if you look carefully in contrast to Fontaine's aimless hoofs, his are in fact sometimes actually 60 yard, left to right cross field balls which are SOMETIMES half decent (admittedly, this is only because of his left foot bias)

I think people are getting confused with me saying I didn't want Carey to have a new contract.

First thing first if it was a pay when played contract I'm all for that.

I do rate him when he is playing, but how often is that? His body is battle worn and needs longer to rest between games. Which in league one you don't get international weeks start in round one of the FA Cup and also play in the tin pot cup.
We have taken a players place with as loads of people have mentioned the term a lot on here "the cheap option".

With regards the comments to keeping him here to help the kids and team mates etc, hasn't he just had three seasons to show us he can do this. Looking at our defence this season I would say they don't listen to him if that's the case.
I admire and will always respect Loius for what will be the club record appearances season. I have a framed photo of him on the wall.

What I wanted for us next season was an overhaul of the spine of the team which at the moment I can't see coming with us offering new contracts to Nyatanga and Carey.

In Nyatanga's defence the past 6 months have been an improvement but given the way our defence was last season, was not really hard to improve it. He is still young but will he carry on improving our will he just take the place of someone else joining the club better??

I don't want Carey to leave the club, but I want the club to evolve and to do that sometimes we need to make tough decision's.

I would like to see Carey as a sort of ambassador to the club dealing with the kids, going out to local schools to show them that local players can do well at City and promoting the club to them.

We need to have the club run with our heads, not our hearts.

That's ok as he isn't a part or ****,others?? Well I might agree after they are gone v coating them off when here as I don't see the point. Keeping Carey to me seems logical, offers a lot off the pitch v decreasing hours on it for what will be minimal cost. He did not feature due to injury again but there I see him long term beyond playing if he wants a role. That I would base on his ability and status.

I could not have put it better ROD. Carey in some sort of ambassadorial role, but not a member of the first team squad.

And I agree that Nyatanga looked our most solid central defender from January onwards, but he has not improved one bit since he came to City. He's had four years here, so is very unlikely to begin improving now.
Is this an early "panic move" by SO'D just like McInnes did last year with Carey to ensure he has enough bodies for the back four?

Thought I would add my views on this MISTAKE

Sorry to say it as Louis has been a great servant to the club, however awarding him a new playing contract is not he way forward I'm afraid. I understand the good to have around idea but sadly we are not in a financial position to offer sentimental contracts. We did this with Scott Murray and look how poorly that worked out for the team. If the club want him around the place then give him a coaching role, he will not play enough games to warrant a contract and again I'm afraid to say even the games he did play this season he could not inspire those around him as he has done in previous seasons. Can you imagine Fergie doing this??

It would appear our board is as inept as the playing staff and poor SOD has no chance just like our other previous mangers. Perhaps Steve Coppout saw that the board did not have the nous to back up their big shot claims so he quit while he was ahead??

I've seen quite a few games of YTFC this season.

If McAllister can play well in L1 there's a degree of hope (not much) that Tangle might get by.
Carey should do ok although his body might let him down with injury.

The pitches are worse as well, will be difficult to play a passing game.
Another reason why I worry in midfield - Kilkenny and Anderson scare me ****less.

    Cidered

Elliot will be made for L1.
It's going to be physical (just right for Kilkenny and Anderson lol) and not so skilful as the Championship.
But I think he'll get an offer to stay in the Championship.

To a lesser degree I have hope for Kelly in CM as well.

I'd rather not offer Louis Carey another year. His comments against McInnes days after his sacking still irritate me, and quite frankly unless he's on tiny wages I'd rather fill our back line with youngsters who have a future at the club.
