A NEWCASTLE fan has admitted running onto the Riverside Stadium pitch to help Boro players celebrate a goal against his side’s arch-rivals Sunderland.

Kevin Price, 47, admitted racing on to the football field to join jubilant players during this month’s FA Cup replay tie.

He was seen celebrating with Boro’s players after Lukas Jutkiewicz scored on Wednesday, February 8.

But Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday that Price is not actually a Boro fan.

Instead, he was a Newcastle fan - and was simply celebrating a goal against the Black Cats.

Yesterday, Price, of Ilchester Street, Dawdon, Durham, pleaded guilty to entering the playing area at the Riverside Stadium.

He was discharged conditionally for six months and ordered to pay costs of £50.

His solicitor Rachel Dyson admitted he had been “completely foolish” and said he felt “embarrassed” to be in court.

Magistrates declined to impose a football banning order.

Chair of the bench Sheila Whittaker said: “You entered the playing area to congratulate and not assault.”

Two other fans also appeared before magistrates yesterday.

Ironically, when it happened, a few Toon lads came on here to call us scum and say it was Sunderland fans.

We've both got them, such is life.

I can understand him celebrating, but running onto the pitch is a dumb thing to do. Wouldn't be worth the fifty quid at the Sports Direct Arena, or at St James Park if he was down in Exeter for the day :)

I've long held the view that anyone who celebrates a goal against the lads should be fined at the very least.
Good to hear the courts are catching on.

He should have been banned, mind you it's probably what he hoped would happen better than watching the barcodes at the Whoeverpaysthemostthisweek Arena.

Don't hold your breath waiting for an apology and admitting he is a nonce.

Dawdon, Seaham right in the heart of Newcastle. One word for this lad, prick. Hadn't heard of Newcastle before 1992 and never been to St James Park in his life

Now that it his name has become public knowledge, I don't give much hope for his survival chances living in Dawdon...

Erm... I think you guys have the wrong end of the stick. I might be mistaken, but I don't think the article in the OP is referring to the two lads who ran on the pitch when Gardner was about to shoot. It only refers to one Newcastle fan, and also says he was celebrating Boro's goal with the team, not running on the pitch mid-play - different people I think!

They were the only two I saw on the pitch, and the only ones reported.

Nope, Jonny Aiston was talking about two who went on in mid-play, not the one who went on to celebrate the goal by Juckwweizixicixzzix.
We won't be holding our breath waiting for you to apologise for being such a nonce either <doh>
