It is so very exciting, eh? Just a week and a half to go till the big kick-off. The season tickets have arrived and my wife is planning her Saturdays for the foreseeable future.

I have now planned my mandate for the season, which comprises five resolutions to abide by for the duration of 2011/2012.

    They are as follows -

1- I must not eat fish and chips before the game plus a burger at half-time. I am too fat already.
2- I must not dip into the household fund to buy CAFC merchandise. The scars are still visable.
3- I must not book hotels for away matches in locations of less than 100 miles. London to Colchester is more than do-able.
4- I must always wear plasters on my nipples when wearing replica shirts. I am a martyr to chaffing.
5- I must be more realistic and not bet on Charlton to win 5-0 every match. Ladbrokes are beginning to budget my wastage into their yearly forecasts.

So have you guys got any resolutions for the season? I would love to know.

P.S) This time last year I drew up the same five resolutions. I failed to see any of them through.

    1. I will not pretend to myself before every game that it really doesn't matter if we don't win
    2. I will not allow a defeat to ruin my Saturday evening (and therefore that of my wife and 2 boys)
    3. I will still not tell my 8 year old the words to the Addam's Family song (which I despise by the way)
    4. I will not spend most of Sunday morning on Not606 to read others views and opinions
    5. I will not write the season off if we have a sticky start ( actually I pray for a season in reverse...a poor start with a fantastic middle and end will suit me)

Only number 3 is really possible.

Thank you, Tewks, glad you like it. I will await your five resolutions.

I just hope this thread doesn't get lost in all of the acworth posts.

Must stop trying to knob that blonde haired bird in the north upper, every other Saturday.
Must stop going to away games, every time I go we get beat.
Must abandon the lucky underpants, lets face it, what a stupid superstition. As if my underpants will ensure 3 points for the boys.
Will buy the Sunday papers, even when we lose.
Will stop trying to calculate what results we need to guarantee promotion, after teh 1st game, then teh second, third etc etc,

    1. I will not say "Why the hell did I bother to come all this way?", if we lose.
    2. Similarly, I will not calculate to the last penny how much a futile trip to The Valley has cost me.
    3. I will find a shirt that fits me and not wince when I fork out the forty quid.
    4. I will continue to try and start chants/songs in Upper West, despite the amount of
people who turn round and look at me as if I'm a geriatric yobbo.
    5. I will continue to keep the faith, come what may, and stick by my pre-season
predictions and defend them to the last*

    * Or until I look really stupid defending them, whichever comes first.

    They are -

    We will be promoted.

We will score 20 more goals than last season.

We will concede 20 fewer goals than last season.

I will not think we will get past the 1st round of the League Cup
I will not dismiss any player off the basis of the first 3 or 4 games
I will keep the faith and remember that it does take time for a squad to gel
I will visit Adams Park again, as Rocky is the only opposition banter we get on here.
I will keep the play-off final date free in my diary until it's absolutely certain we're not going to be in it (cos we'll be promoted)

    1) I will get a name on the back of my shirt (Stephens)
    2) I'll stop tapping my league the moment the game kicks off (that one will be broken)
    3) I have a habit of not talking if we lose (which happened a fair bit last season). I want to aim to stop this, but doubt it.
    4) Get more pictures to upload to Not606 album.
    5) Post even more drivel on Not606- just for you boys!
