  7. Used to watch all of them but Futurama, South Park and King of the Hill are ****. Once you've watched a few they become boring. Simpsons, Family Guys and American Dad are the only ones to last time <ok>

Futurama and King of the Hill arent as good I agree

    Always loved South Park though

Used to Like Beavis and Van Gaal but was a lot younger then and its not as good nowdays

    Family Guy
    Simpsons
    South Park
    American Dad

    In that order for me

American Dad is still young in comparison to the others

    Simpsons
Futurama (not seen in years though)
    South Park

Many years ago when Fam guy first hit england I thought it was shocking. It was on late night on C4 very occasionally.

  14. I think they all take a bit of time to get used to the characters at first. I watched South Park when I was younger and thought it was funny but nothing like the others. King of the Hill is just bloody awful <laugh>

Never bothered with Beavis and Butthead

i must say most of this comes down to writing and freshness.

If you create good characters and keep the thing fresh and current its gonig to be entertaining. The strength of the simpsons is having commentary in a social sense. family guy is just a different form of perhaps more "extreme" or more adult humour where bart simpson could never now go (he's 20 years old and so still acts like a 10 year old form those times)

south park was always adult but it's lost its edge a bit

king ofthe hill was poor and has stayed poor and the writing is the cause.

futurama got canned cos it ran out if ideas after one or max two series and really just had the same old same old feeling. you really wanted less stupid fry more cheeky robot.

ahve not bothered with american dad frankly.

Futurama was always "Simpsons in Space"... even almost character by character... Fry is Bart. Bender is Homer.
Copies are never as good as the originals. King of the Hill I never liked as much either... too dry.

That said... it did come on after something I used to watch years ago.. and sometimes was left on in the background whilst I did things around the house... it does slowly grow on you... but never as good as most of the others in the genre.

I think being in the US helps... just like "Only Fools And Horses" works brilliantly in the UK- but wouldn't really work in the US; King of the Hill is the reverse situation. You probably have to be a yank to appreciate King of the Hill. The characters are certainly caricatures of the type of people you're more likely to find in mid-western US than anyone you'd find in England.

I have no problem with "shock humor" or "crude humor"- but I felt like in both those shows it became too repetitive. Could never really get into either- they were crude for the sake of it without any solid humor to back it up.

/ I loved Book Of Mormon by the South Park creators though.

Family Guy was great... not afraid to cross the line- but at the same time- there is a narrative there. The show isn't about crossing the line- it's about humor and crossing it from time to time. Simpsons was great when I was younger- but it's grown old for me... seems a little kiddy now.

American Dad I've never got into/really tried.

It seems it has been done to help 2 shows that are running out of ideas in my opinion. Loved Family Guy and Simpsons but both have gotten stale last few years. Watched the first 4 episodes of this series of Family guy and they havent really been funny.

South Park went through a lull a few years back but seems to have come back stronger and in my opinion is the funniest adult animated comedy around at the moment.

  20. The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad have been having the odd cross over for years so the idea as been there for a long time. It depends how the go with it really, if its a one off series then fine but if they do and continue with it then perhaps you're right. Time will tell.
