This is where we have come from, in the last 3 years: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/F13212808?thread=6498585&show=50 (It's hard to imagine that we're talking about the same team now!) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8015118.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/7976473.stm Remember it.
That sent a definite chill down my spine. A timely reminder. Let's hope Adam Lallana [mentioned in the match report] has turned his career around completely, come mid afternoon Saturday. Not long now.
Great post! To be where we are now is beyond belief. I genuinely thought I'd be supporting a 3rd division team for years. Now to achieve that ambition I'll need to switch to Pompey (bless 'em)
While we're going down memory lane, how about this from the start of the season? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...3102/Championship-2011-12-season-preview.html
the 606 article was a laugh with the pompey fan lecturing us over supporting your club when your near the bottom IF ONLY WE WERE AS GOOD AS THERE FANS!!!
"Will beat some superb teams, but also lose to some abject ones". Well, he got that bit right. Not on Saturday though......please!!!!!!
Hey RJ, nicely dug up mate. I've also found a bit of a gem from the bbc606, from our very own little Ming (sb3) __________________________________ Will Saints be good enough? League One Southampton by BadBlueFish (U14861824) 13 May 2011 to stay in the Championship with the likes of Pompey in the division? Congratulations on your promotion, but like so many teams before you, do you think you may go straight back down to League 1, if you do not make a substantial investment in the squad? ________________________________ His predictions are legendary!
That was fascinating in parts. I thought the reporter started off quite well, but deteriorated toward the end. Many of the teams he previewed, he didn't get their final positions far wrong. Others he just got totally incorrect. But then again, who would have bet against Leicester being also-rans..? Pompey, he got completely wrong, but he expected them to have recovered a little from their financial woes. He spotted the other two relegation places exactly. Of course, he got us wrong, but there were a couple of wise words in there too. Hey..! Most of us got US wrong..!
