It was inevitable that there would be a period where results and performances would drop slightly, and we may not get the rub of the green. But we mustn't panic, we must believe that the players will respond and start a winning run again, hopefully next week. With January also coming up it gives us the opportunity to add a couple of new players and perhaps an extra dimension to our play. We also have to appreciate how well we did in the early season as it has allowed us to keep top spot despite this drop in form. It was never going to be easy, but I can still see us achieving automatic promotion and we must remain positive. COYR
Billy Sharp would fix the so called " blip " And based on current form if he was playing instead of guly he would of gotten a hat trick. Rickie reckons teams have sussed us but it's just that they know now how good we actually are. 1 up front at home with 5 in midfield shows this.
Not necessarily worked us out, but at the beggining of the season, we were just a 'newly promoted side' so teams were attacking us, now everyone has worked out that we are a decent side we have got to work a lot harder to win games.
Obviously disappointing that we didn't consolidate on our goal advantage, but in the scheme of things a point away (especially with our average away form) is not the end of the world. Looking at the stats we have the possession and make chances but we are not as lethal as we were at the beginning of the season. 'Sussing us out' actually means the opposition now respect us as the team to beat. We now have to pick up points on Boxing Day and on the 30th to make sure we go into 2012 on top.
I personally don't care about being top. Yes its great but if we finish in the top 2 i would be ecstatic. I still say anywhere in the top 6 will be excellent. I understand that now we're top we need to try and stay there but lets try and enjoy the ride along the way. Chaplow fit and a january striking addition and i think it's game on!!
It's great that even though we're going through this blip, we're still top. And I have every confidence that it ends here, with back-to-back homes victories awaiting us immediately after Xmas (although a tricky January does then follow).
It has just occured to me that if I'm wrong, and our blip does continue by not beating Palace, we'll fall behind the two-points-per-game target for the first time this season (West Ham keep on flipping above and below that line, but we've always been above it). But then again, if we win these two games like I expect us to, then we'll be two points above that line and thus will have a slight buffer to go into January with.
Completely agree. I thought that it was disappointing to lose a lead, however it was good to stop the away form rot. We defended well apart from the corner, Pompey's only real threat in the second half. We do need a new striker in the January window as we didn't really have anyone to bring on today to replace Guly.
I'm actually more concerned that other teams are catching up..but so must West Ham be. I'd love us and another team (in any order) to be ahead of third spot by a handful of points.
That is much better I knew that last effort of yours was just a lapse on your part. Well done for achieving this quite dramatic improvement in your written English in such a short time. It is rather unfortunate that you could not think up a response of your own but instead had to resort to a Dictionary of Quotations. Do keep up this excellent progress and we will all be very proud of you.
