    Vs Notts County

Sunderland: Mignolet, Angeleri, Richardson, Ferdinand (C), Da Silva, Reid, Riveros, Colback, Malbranque, Bent, Gyan.

Subs: Carson, Reed, Adams, Bramble, Bardsley, Elmohamady, Henderson.

Looks like a pretty good team that to me.

Players? Maybe. Team? Result spoke for itself. Was that our first choice team Steve? Today's is.

lets hope we win then or we will never hear the end of it.

as for commentators I preferred it without them, wish you could have the option every game, but still hear the crowd.

Given that it's Peterboro' I reckon the loss of commentary was cos their cables got nicked.

Said on a previous post was this tactic in preparation for the Chelsea game. Hope not cos its a **** tactic.

Hope MON realised it didn't work. Sess never had a hope in hell today

dont you think we would have played a bit better if we had someone in the box to get on the end of all the great crosses that were getting thrown in??
im not slagging o'niell off i think he is great and the best thing that has happened to our club, but i didnt like his team selection today thats all..

and if bent and gyan are "second choice" we must have had a ****ing awsome first choice..

Never said a whole team of "second choice", did I? Look at the team - it's in the thread - then decide for yourself.

He sent out a team to counter the opposition's set-up today. Would we have been getting the crosses in had we played with an orthodox midfield four? We'll never know.

We were very professional, today and, in the words of the BBC, "clinical". Can't remember the last time that that adjective was used to describe us!

This is the way MON plays, all his sides defend deep, soak up pressure and then counter attack with pace and accurate passing. Its how he played at Leicester, its how he played at Villa (I don't know about Celtic as I don't watch Scottish football). It seems to work for him. I agree today we missed a big man to hold the ball up but counter attack is what we will do for the rest of the season. Lucky for us we have the right player to play that sort of game. To be honest I can't remember MIG making a save today??

ive looked at the team mate and i think its a prity good team tbh just like today i thought the deffence and midfield were very good but i think we should always play with at least one striker no matter who we are playing!! and if bendtner was fully fit i think he would have started,

but he wasnt so ,we didnt have a striker on the pitch and he had 3 on the bench, doesnt show the other strikers he has much faith in them..

Thing is smithy, it would seem that O'Neill, like his predecessor, thinks that Sess is a striker, despite the views of a lot of supporters. They must see something we don't. And we'll have to agree to disagree about that team last January.
