Back four and keeper are fine, most would agree. Lucas picks himself, Gerrard still has more to give but needs quality around him. We need a RW and just don't have one so we need to buy. Sterling needs to play next season in some games on the left. We need a partner for Suarez. So 2 players in is all we need. Some may disagree here. Coates Robinson Coady Morgan Are 4 that I think should be around the squad next season.
My ideal team would be: Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Enricky Lucas Benega Suarez Gerrard New winger??? Carroll (Or other goal scorer in a 442) Don't know who we could be linked with to fill the wing or striker roles, could be anyone. Think Benega is a must but even that seems far fetched.
Like the look of that team very much, goes to show that the spine of our team isn't too bad at the moment either. We just need to add quality, not quantity, and we will be much improved.
I think yesterday typified what we've needed all season. Chelsea, with Kalou, Mata and Ramires had three players who could play in the wide areas that looked to take on their man and beat them. We are crying out for someone with real PACE, trickery and guile. Hazard would be ideal, but we're realistically never going to get him. If we spend big on any position then this should be it.
I think Sessegnon would be a realistic buy and would improve that area. Just as long as we don't have to pay over the odds for a player.

Imho, these players need to be sent packing in the summer: -Downing (I know it's his first season, but he has been the worst of our summer signings, especially since he is 29 already) -Doni (He wants to leave from what i've read, and from what i've seen he is incredibly dodgy anyway!) -Kuyt (Lost a yard, and is aging. Also still gets annoyed at being benched, and doesn't do anything when brought on) -Maxi (Similar to Doni, i've read he also wants to go. We shouldn't get in his way) -Aurelio (Need I say anything?) Carragher needs to take a step back and realise he is getting in Coates' way! He keeps on about how he wants to do whats best for the club, yet still thinks he deserves a place on the bench. Spearing isn't ready for a regular starting role yet. I expect him to return to the bench once Lucas returns, same with Shelvey. Then for me, we need to sign: -A GOOD quality back-up goalkeeper. -A pacey winger -A poacher of a striker.
Agree with who we need to sell Downing is average id rather us spend the money and get a quality winger in who knows how to beat the first defender and actually cross the ball regularly rather then cutting and letting the left back run through all the time
