In it's near 125 year history Nottingham Forest have never played lower than the 3rd tier. They have been Champions of all 3 tiers and have spent over 50 % of their seasons in the first tier. My first racing bike was made in Nottingham. The first VCR was made there and I have never been to their renowned "Goose Fair."
Nottingham was home to the world lace-making industry and still makes some of the best lace available, though don't tell my daughter, as I'm currently trying to convince her that the best lace comes from China and that's where she should be getting the stuff for her wedding dress from.
Nottingham is/was home to John Player Cigarettes who in the early days shared factory space with lace makers. Boots the Chemist also has its HQ in Nottingham.
Two large stone lions guard Nottingham's Council House steps and legend has it that if a virgin ever walks between them, they'll roar. I lived in Chesterfield For a while and it was rumoured that if a virgin ever walked past the twisted spire, it would straighten.

When I was 18yrs old it was in Nottingham that I First ever visited a Strip Club. After all of these years I still remember one of the strippers was called Tina, very dark hair and a thin line of hair running up her belly to her navel. I can picture it now.
I went on a footy trip there when I was a young lad! Played a comp in the morning & went to watch NF v L##ds and cloughie told me to f'ck off because I was jumping around behind his dug out!
You can pick up BBC Radio Humberside as clear as a bell on your car radio from the Notts County car park.
