With a bit of research these are the clubs who are rumoured to have made approaches for Marvin: Arsenal Blackburn Rovers Blackpool Fulham Norwich City Southampton Swansea City West Bromwich Albion West Ham United Wigan Have I missed any? This is truly silly season.
16 Jan 2012 11:30:27 Emile Heskey To Watford ? 16 Jan 2012 10:21:40 Southampton's main striker targets Hooper - Celtic around 6-8mil Sordell - Watford around 3-4mil Jst no Not sure any Championship club will spend that much on 2 players. That sort of money is the whole budget for many clubs. I know Southampton have the Liebherr Dynasty's money behind them, but I can't see Cortese spending that until they're in the Premiership Hooper is not for sale!! Well celtic sed they aint selling hooper and carnt c watford selling sordell to another championship side
Saints also have the money from Oxlade-Chamberlain deal, no doubt burning a hole in their pocket! I assume the majority of that can go on players! I've heard of a £5m bid from them for Hooper, but Celtic don't seem interested! Maybe Hoper will push for a move if he thinks Saints will get promoted! With all the (rumoured) suitors for Marv, hopefully we can get at least £5m (plus sell-on/clauses) for him. Saints seem to be able to get extra for theirs, so maybe we can do that back if they are serious about him!
But do we know Connor Wickham was £10M, or was that a number made up by the press. Did his transfer have a small base fee plus x amount if he scores y number of goals, x amount if he plays y number of games, x amount if plays for England, x amount as a sell on fee etc? Also do we know if Marvin's contract has any release clauses? I wish transfer fees were as easy as comparing two players and the fees one of them got, but unfortunately they are not. I would expect that we will sell Marvin at anything over £3M, but I hope we can achieve over £5M though.
Looks like two previous rumours regarding targets are dead in the water - Appiah claims to signed for Blackpool (although no word from Blackpool) and Cotterill is apparently at Leicester. Norway will be pleased to hear about the former.
16 Jan 2012 18:57:38 As soon as Mervan Celik signs for Rangers, Gregg Wylde will be loaned to watford for the rest of the season. There is no way Rangers will release Wylde, he either plays or is on the bench every game 16 Jan 2012 18:21:52 -Young Striker James Collins From Shrewsbury Has Emerged As A Target For Watford. All this talk about Marvin going seems to have unsettled him. When he was getting some England games his mind seems to be elsewhere. I didn't see anything on Friday that would have made me want to spend big money. We do know that he can play a lot better than that.
OFH, I agree it must very unsettling for the player I personally do not think he will be wearing a WFC shirt at the end of Jan I just hope if he goes we have someone in the pipeline to replace him, I would hate to us scrambling around at the end of the month trying to get a make do in!
He often has games like that...to be honest, i think he's overrated...but he's the best we've got, which at the moment, doesn't say much. I would love to get someone in that works harder, and has a much better strike rate. Not sure we can afford that though!
it would be idea! lol...or even someone not quite that prolific would suffice...just that MS seems to have the occasional great game, but more often than not, he's disappointing...
He has the potential but flatters to decieve on to many occasions, DG provided for a lot of his goals last season and he has not got that foil this season! He is not an out and out main striker perse but if someone offers £5M fair play
French, be fair...if you saw Sordell Friday he was probably only training. Word is D Grahams made little impact in Wales and would prob welcome a return at quarter of the fee paid AND M Mackay is refusing to learn Welsh and is available for a fiver.
Either you are a WUM or have not been paying attention!! Danny Graham is Swansea's top scorer this season and there is plenty of praise for him! Not bad for his first half season in the prem!!!!!!
