To be fair we’ve never played with that kind of midfielder so unless klopp tweaks his system not sure would get someone like that. Especially with TAA coming inside more, if that continues then need that RCM to be able to drift wider, which is what Elliott was doing first half of season and was working well. TAA comes inside into RCM role, Elliott drifts wider and Salah is wide and cuts inside. Was nice little triangles out there

if henderson could actually cross he plays it well too.

the issue for me is that we are robbing oursevles of witdh tho indulge a trent fantasy.

He is not KDB. sorry but he is not. he is most often stood stock still in the middle doing nothing and not contributing once the slow ball finally crabs back across.

I'd rather 20 corners and have a go than watch us play form deep. get in behind and drive. force a tackle, a block, whatever. beat a man etc.

Once we let teams get set we are always struggling to break it down. City don't struggle as much despite having similar issue as their design demands width and getting int othe box form wide zones and playing in. We play in fornt too much.

    Pep's system:

Wide forward....... ACM........ False 9........ ACM..... Wide forward

    ..........................LB................No 6..............RB

    ..........CB....................................................CB......................

the width comes from the likes of mahrez and sterling. they are pnned out. YOu see cancelo coming form that Lb slot to contrinue like a CM. You can see kdb, foden and silva all in that box area. they want sapce ebtween midfield and defnce or space wide and they will run right in to the box inviting challenges.

Our is totally different and when we panic you see no width at all.

    its
    ..................................nobody in box............................
    ................. Diaz............Mane..............................................Salah
    Robertson........ thiago............trent............................Henderson
    VVD..............Fabinho.....................konate
    .........................nobody at the back.......................

So we have 7 lads vying for small space and then we all come in the middle so teams can get 9 or 10 men back really narrow and shut all pace down.. theres huge potential to overlap and run at teams wide usually but we not very rarely do so.

Salah made a world class touch saturday night off a long ball in, got shap and hit bit it wasn;t in the corner so a flailing arm glaced the ball off a bicep and out.

mane got a ball in the hlfa space first half walked into box shifted it under no tackle pressure and shot and it hit the post and courtois back.

We simply didn't get i nthat box and force them into a decision much.

Most saves courtois made were "routine" none were anyhting really special, the trent shot was a nice ehight so it was a decent stop. the salah one was just a bit of luck really.

Alisson had none to make... none. thats the reality. they worked an open goal by vvd failing to go out and keep danager away from goal imo.

If Mane is off who to get? As a general football fan, I would love Klopp to get oñe of Saka or Inaki Williams. Inaki would be the cheaper option. He has skill, speed and strength in abundance and more footballing intelligence than Oxo. Athletic play him as a main striker, but I feel.he is better playing out wide and can take up.positions on either flank.

Didn't he disappear after the flare incident. I wondered if he was left out for disciplinary reasons... Klopp thought he was acting too immature.

We've already started rebuild at the front. Jota and Diaz but, personally, I think we need to bite the bullet and get one more and let all the original three forwards move on.

Midfield. Ox, Jones and Keita not good enough. Milner should be retiring. Hendo isn't what he was, still decent but nonetheless.

So really only Fabs and Thiago who are truly top tier. Elliot will be there one day and has shown glimpse... But Midfield needs a rebuild.

We've got plenty of CB and GK looks safe... But RB is another sore spot, don't know if the rumoured Scottish kid is good enough to fill in. If he is Tsimi on the right, I'm happy.

    My thoughts.

Back 4 is sorted Gomez covers Trent. Keepers sorted.
Fabinho and Thiago when fit Hendo as cover. Jones and Elliott still have time to improve. AOC, Keita not good enough, Milner too old. Buy Bellingham he just suits us. Carvalho to come in as well.

Bobby stays as cover Diaz and Jota start with Salah who'll leave on a free. Buy Salah's replacement.

2 players is sensible and a possibility. Looking to bring in 4 or 5 isn't going to happen.

I think the club knew and Diaz is his replacement, we only bought him early because of the risk of losing him.

Pretty much this. Keita will hang around as a squad player until his contract runs out.

Midfielder and a right forward are the priorities for this summer and/or next summer.

    Maybe.

He's not ideal at RB. We really need better so TAA can rest occasionally.

It’s ok. I’ve had 2 days of random messages from fans of teams who won f#ck all, gloating that we only won 2 trophies and narrowly missed out on another two. You couldn’t make it up <laugh>

My side (Pompey) have won the titles of all four divisions, so that is something to really be proud of. Why do fans of other clubs gloating when Liverpool come up short - firstly because they want their club to win. "Why should it be Liverpool winning doubles and trebles. It should be my club.!! Secondly, jealousy as your club has won loads, while mine has won f*** all!! That aside, what all football fans in the UK, from Celtic to Linfield, from Anfield to Newcastle, from Ipswich to Birmingham, from Arsenal to Millwall - should be focused on, is bringing that big tosser of a Prime Minister and his Government down asap!! Liverpool and Manchester United can win all the trophies they want if it would result in the Tories being voted out and never elected again. Let's start bringing in pig effigies of the PM to matches.

Mane is sold this summer, Bobby will run his contract down and Mo will extend (IMO).

I mentioned this in the Transfer Chat but I have feeling that we replace Mane with a outright number 9 and I think Darwin is the number 1 target. If that is the case, we will lose creativity from that position because he is not like Bobby or Mane, which means we will need creativity from elsewhere i.e. the midfield.

I've wanted Tchouameni badly but looks like he's going to Real and he's also a more defence minded player. I want us to go all out for that all action RCM - Bellingham appears to be number 1 choice but we won't be going for him until next year (if at all). Barella of Inter would be an immense option but can't see him leaving Italy.

Don't see Mo extending tbh. The rest sounds about right.
