ps. after seeing gas fans on these boards proclaiming that you will win the league this year, you dont get anywhere in this league by just "being a big club" look at bradford. and your squad is made of a fair few mediocre league two players, if i were you, i would hope for playoffs at best
Uncle G - you have had a fair few of our mediocre players over the last few seasons - apparently they were the better players in your squad - and you still didn't manage promotion! Still only time will tell if the mediocre players we have got in our squad will be better than the mediocre players you have in yours! If you look at my history you will see that I for one, have not, and did not say that we will be going straight back up - I hope we do, and I hope we do it in style playing football the way it is supposed to be played - scoring more goals that your oppenents! I have been around for sooooo long - I can remember being at Gay meadow around about 1970 - to know that nothing is cut and dried in this game. I have seen more downs than ups - especially over the last few seasons. We got slated (and rightly so) by our neighbours from south of the river last season, and all we are doing now is having a little pop back - although the loss to Torquay wasn't quite in the script! So enjoy the season, enjoy the banter and we will all see each other when the time comes for us to do battle in the arena!
thanks rhinestone, i enjoy the banter, do you remember a game in about 1963 when i watched shrews beat the gas 7-3, you had a goalkeeper esmond million who got done and thrown out of football i think for throwing the game. if i might say so both the gas and the shrews have made an inauspicious start to their campaigns this season, time will tell
AJ - was only about 7 then - too young for away games, and a bit young to remember much about football. In them days it wasnt that big a deal, and certainly didn't have so much coverage across the media as today so to speak. I think my first away games were to places like Gay Meadow, Halifax and Mansfield - and that must have been about 68/69 ish! The days before motorways. On the Halifax trip we had Stuart Taylors dad on board the coach and the fog was so think coming back across the Pennines that he was out the front of the coach walking with a torch. If I remember correctly we got back to Bristol about 3'o' clock Sunday morning! Eeeeee bah gum - them were the days!
we can tell. we win and you lose and you cry and dont want to play but instead throw your toys out the pram now you get your 1st win and we drew away to inform macclesfield keeping a clean sheet in the process and your back for banter?? i give you 1 chance. if you lose and you whinge like a bitch again when we throw banter your way, then no point doing banter with you at all ye been warned i tell thee
sir watfitzme fitzgerald, knew him well he thought his club were going to walk the league, and do you know what clevedon town went down. sauce and gander come to mind. good luck against watford, or are you concentrating on the league. not sure if we are putting our reserves out or not at home to premier swansea. there may or may not be singing in the valleys on tuesday night. form says we both might lose in the cup, let us both suprise the b8ggers
our players be up for it as if we beat watford we have a good chance against orient and mcgleish will be up for facing his former side orient. obviously a cup fun will financially be great but i could not care aless about the cups. i say just concentrate on the league. although we do have a squad big enough for a cup run.
having a cup run is fun so its a cup fun like relax and chill is chilax (walking away now hoping i got away with it)
you still didnt actually tell me the stats for head to head of bristol city fc 1982 ltd vs bristol rovers which obviously started from 1982. whats whats the head to heads please??
if the gas are lucky enough to get a point against hereford they then enter a long run of awkward games and they may have to show patience until 19/11/11 when they may nick another point off barnet, this season may not be such a stroll in eastville park as some gasheads would have us believe. anofficialajbanter
