The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "â¦The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." God most definitely listens to prayers, answers prayers, and moves in response to prayers. Jesus taught, "â¦I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20). 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." The Bible urges us, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18). What a load of bollocks!
Here's a little story that may illustrate the power of prayer; When my brother was 9 years old, he was told by a certain psycopathic bog-trotting teacher at our Catholic place of learning/torture, that he would "see to you after lunch." My brother spent the entire lunch time fervently praying to God that the twisted old ****er would somehow be prevented from meeting out the casual brutality for which he was known. As he waited outside Mr *****'s office, another teacher came by and informed him that the dark hearted savage had been knocked off his bike by a motorist and taken to hospital. Proof, surely, that God exists and prayer works.
Never thought of that. Though if he's the anti-christ, I'd expect him to have made his move by now. He hasn't accumulated much in the way of power and wealth, and he's nearly 50 now.
That and Ricky Lambert, who wears the shirt of "LeGod", and is thought by many to be the 2nd coming. Adam lallana also works miracles.
- but I think that, after Saturday's performance, Southampton had better start praying if they want to avoid relegation this season.
...or you're a complete fanny with nothing relevant/accurate to say unless it's drink/drug/prostitute related. Yeah, I'll go with that.
Which people, in general, are most oppressed and shat on by their governments? Muslims. And they pray 5 times everyday. Prayer is a placebo.
that was actually on the placards at the protest / riot in sydney at the weekend. wtf it's funny all those wars started by atheists...
