Just a suggestion: maybe don't make a campaign ad that looks like this ...especially since the gammonati have been claiming Starmer protected Saville since literally the day he became LOTO
There's definitely a collective media agenda this morning to pounce on this. Ironically, from many of the same newspapers who have destroyed lives with the bile and lies they've spouted about others. I was listening to LBC this morning and they actually had the editor of The Sun on claiming how wrong it was This is the paper that is reviled by a whole city ffs for the disgusting lies they spread about 96 innocent ppl who were crushed to death. It's beyond parody. Btw I'd like to add I think Labour would've been better off doing that whole tweet including the picture of Sunak but without the strapline about him. But then, I suppose no news channel would be talking about it. Go figure
It's hardly a collective media agenda, given Ash Sarkar and Owen Jones were ripping into it last night, and considering how far they are from the media agenda it's a catastrophic own goal from Labour's media team - who will no doubt be thrown under the bus by the end of next week, while ignoring the various people high in Labour's campaign and communications teams who happily retweeted it But the real issue isn't what it says (own goal about Starmer's time as DPP notwithstanding) and more that it once again seems that their idea of what appeals to the Red Wall is Tommy Robinson-level dogwhistling, because if there's one way to attract votes there it's suggesting that the locals will be won over by a little race-baiting But going back to his time as DPP, let's just say it didn't take long for the ad to backfire - and, no, I don't mean that the tweet with the poster has already got Twitter adding a context box beneath it...
Regardless of how you think about this, those two criticise Starmer over everything. They're both staunch Corbynites and Sarkar regards herself as a communist. They're the last people to praise anything from the current Labour leadership.
Is there anybody on the political spectrum who actually thinks that poster isn't utterly ****ing brainless? Oh, right, Jess Phillips retweeted it...
I ****ing despair with Labour. This ad goes beyond brainless. A fecking infant would have foreseen how Tories, their rabid media buddies and the Corbynistas would respond. It's cheap and not even that clear a message. And for a Party that should luxuriating in a +20 poll lead just waiting for June '24 to arrive without misfooting, you'd almost think it was deliberately self-destructive. Even more galling when you despair of their failure to challenge the Brexit abomination for risk of possibly alienating the Red Wall ... They are proving themselves to be as inept as the Tories, just possibly less corrupt!
Also half-inching Metallica As well as not being deemed relevant enough to blame for the Woodstock '99 ****show twenty years after the fact, judging by Netflix
Does anybody know who else was on the sentencing panel or was it only Starmer. I thought it was the judges who handed our the prison terms or whatever punishment was appropriate in their judgement
