I was having a laugh a Biden. Is that OK, or do we have to drop that idiot Johnson into every post too?

    But Labour.

    But Brexit.

    But Ukraine.

    But something else.

Ah, OK. I’d forgotten you were the final arbiter of such things.

Having considered this more, I think that what I reacted to was the fact that your posting of that clip displayed a contempt for the man himself. Did you laugh when you saw it? I suppose I really should really have used Trump as my comparison rather than Johnson, but I'd laugh if I saw Trump (or Johnson) fall off a bike, but then I despise both of those individuals. Do you despise Biden? You're probably going to say that I'm reading too much into an innocent post about an old man falling off a bike, but then I'd say 'If it was innocent, why did you put it on the Politics thread?' If you think Biden's a ****, say so, but it should really be more about his politics than his cycling skills.

    Inflation is running at 11.1%.

You are offered a 2% pay rise with two further 0.5% rises provided you accept all ‘productivity and efficiency’ changes including potentially losing your job through compulsory redundancy.

So a real terms pay cut of 8% and possibly no job and the political party which is supposed to represent workers condemns them, rather than drawing attention to the companies which, despite £15bn of extra taxpayer support during the pandemic, still paid out £38m in dividends to shareholders.

It’s really fascinating watching the propaganda machine in full flow. You get the impression that if it wasn’t for Mick Lynch there would be no inflation, the NHS would be perfect and Russia would withdraw from Ukraine.

Keir Starmer has reportedly told the Labour party to get ready to replace him in case he has to resign over beergate. I'm coming round to thinking that his resigning on a matter of principle would be the best thing for Labour. And for the country, in that it would hasten Johnson's demise and ultimately lead to a Labour-led coalition government under Wes Streeting or Lisa Nandy.

There are some pretty nasty tweets of Streeting's being circulated on Twitter. He was indirectly calling for the murder of a Daily Mail columnist called Jan Moir (wanted her thrown under a train). It may come back to haunt him.

His family is colourful too. Grandpa was an armed robber and associate of the Krays. Grandma was banged up with Christine Keeler. Still, in some circles, this background may count as an asset

Not boring, and articulate and intelligent. Self made. But with extreme views that may not have broad appeal to the electorate. A more polished type of Corbyn.

Must be a common thing for US Presidents....Bush managed.to crash into a polis dressed in hi-vis when he was at G8 summit in Gleneagles in 2005....

President George W. Bush crashed his mountain bike into an unfortunate police officer in Scotland.

Mr. Bush, who celebrated his 59th birthday last night was cycling on a bike around the Gleneagles Hotel, where he is staying for the 31st G8 summit, when he, perhaps partially due to the bad weather, crashed into one of the police officers responsible for his and the other leaders' safety.

The officer had to be taken to the hospital having suffered a twisted ankle whilst Mr. Bush, who was wearing a helmet, only suffered minor bruises despite landing on asphalt. The president had to return to the hotel by van because the bike was too badly damaged.

Bush has been involved in two similar accidents during his presidency. In 2003, he fell off a Segway personal transporter, and in 2004, he fell off a mountain bike.

Just listened to this, where he comes across very well and not extreme at all.....

Full Disclosure with James O'Brien: Wes Streeting on Apple Podcasts

I was wrong about all his family being Tories, it was just his grandfather, the crook.

I imagine Wes was just being a Tory when he said he wanted to throw a journalist under a train

Gerald Ford was known for his falls. LBJ said of him, 'he can't fart and chew gum at the same time'.
