Now i dont pretend to know too much about the Russian oligarchs, but surely if youre going to sanction individuals and companies, you dont give them time to cash in their assets. Whats the ****ing point!? Or am i missing something? Also, does anyone know what these Russian donations to uk political parties receive in return for their money?

They're all part of the emerging economies BRICS trading block.

BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. They meet annually at formal summits.

Good. I watched a bit yesterday and although I am all for free speech it was blatant propoganda. Sorry Stainsey I always respect you and your posts but in this case i disagree. Putin a disgcrace.

Well it is a right thing to do I guess……but then again, if you didn’t want to watch it then no one forced you to.
Dare one of our right wing chums on here ramble on about free speech

Says the fella who’s made up stories of neighbours walking dogs and dead soldiers just to suit his bizarre fantasies.

It’s not been banned by the U.K. though, it’s off air because the EU has banned it and nearly all our TV - Sky, Freeview etc, depends on EU registered and managed systems and satellites. Clearly we are not ‘free’ yet. Presumably there are internet work arounds if someone really wants to see it.

I don’t watch it but I think it’s a mistake to ban it at this stage. If we were in direct conflict with Russia, perhaps, but people should be allowed to triangulate the information they get. For example, a lot of Indian media, judging by the graphics, is showing this conflict as Putin v Biden. There are many places in the world which do not buy into the west centric perceptions we routinely receive. And if we characterise them as wrong, or evil, because of that we are storing up even more grief for the future.

All looking rather messy. Interesting on the BBC this morning (doubtless biased etc etc) stories that citizens of Kershen, which the Russians military holds, are talking with Russian soldiers who are apologising for being there and hoping to go home very soon. One side of the story of course, and I’m sure that if we could see RT we’d have pictures of these citizens celebrating on the streets, throwing flowers at the tanks etc etc……

Good post as always G. Many reports and pictures in RT of old women being shelled in Donbas by Ukrainian Right Wing militia…and the memorial to the 100+ children killed.
Of course it will be on a pro-Russian slant but surely it should be the choice of the individual to choose what to watch….surely that’s what free speech is about ?
I’m sure the right wing fash on here will disagree
