Closer to home I suppose, but anyway we shouldn't let perfect be the enemy of good. What do you think we should do?
Fair enough…..just that seems a little bit racist to allow the people closer to home to have visa free sanctuary (white) but not the people further afield (black).. I honestly and truly don’t have a perfect answer, there probably isn’t one, but the calls from some sectors of the political class for visas to be waived for all is completely unworkable, unpractical and would lead to disaster….imho anyway.
how many ukrainians want to come to the uk wont they want to be close so they can go home afterwards use some of the overseas aid budget to help out with accomodation etc where it will actually help
The speculation was that Putin’s first step would be a ‘test’ missile going off over the North Sea between the U.K. and Denmark…..which would have put a bit of a crimp on my weekend…… Meanwhile the Information Security blokes at my company have really started to up the ante, warning us constantly about cyber attacks, phishing, ransomeware etc etc. Not sure if it’s general precaution or they know something, they are pretty active all the time, but this is a level up.
Genuine question, why don't all the black and Asian students who are supposedly being treated so badly at the borders want to go back to their native countries where they have homes to go to ? There must be a reason, all the ones I've seen interviewed on TV say they don't want to return to the native countries. All the Ukranians being let through have lost their homes in the blink of an eye and have no idea if and when they'll have anywhere to call home when this is all done. Let's not forget that Africa still has the highest level of slavery on the planet, and these are from certain tribes in these countries taking members of other tribes as slaves, not enough is made of this in my opinion. Before people get all uppity about how people of colour are being treated in other countries, they need to ask themselves the question, is the treatment of blacks and Asians worse in the countries where these people have originally come from and is this the reason they don't want to return and are treated far better in the countries they currently reside ?
They probably do…but unfortunately Uganda, Zimbabwe and Pakistan have no borders with Ukraine so I guess that’s their first port of exit from the country. If you could put up a few links to where the interviewees stated they wanted to actually stay somewhere else I’d be very interested. Not saying it never happened but I genuinely haven’t seen that reported.
wow, suppose we might as well let the ukranians come and pick fruit and live in some shacks. At least it's better conditions than Ukraine right now and if they don't like how well we are treating them then they go can elsewhere. That's essentially the logic right?
You know I'm **** at posting links ffs, it was on BBC news the other night but I have no idea how to get it. 2 Nigerian girls who were students and 1 Asian boy , I didn't catch where he was from exactly. All 3 said they'd been treated poorly but didn't want to go back to their native homelands, they wanted to go to Poland and hopefully return to the Ukraine. Now there are so many people being interviewed , its impossible to catch them all, but I did see a Polish volunteer who is helping out on the Polish side of the border and he said that Ukranian's with the correct paperwork were coming through first then everyone else. In the background their where people of all races and colours helping themselves to all the clothes that the locals had donated and was about 6 foot high. There was certainly no favouritism or blatant racism being shown on that side of the border. It's obvious that there was on the Ukranian side of the border but I guarantee you that it's not worse treatment than what they'd get if they were I'm their native homelands. Of course its wrong wherever its taking place but its not right to hide the mistreatment of these individuals in their own countries !
I honestly fail to see your point mate. To say there hasn’t been blatant racism taking place is absolute and utterly wrong…..and I really don’t get what is happening in places like Nigeria and Pakistan has got anything to do with how they are treated in Ukraine.
Wow !!!! Mrs has the BBC on while I’m waiting for the man to come and fix the boiler and their report starts with a picture of 2 Ukrainian soldiers standing in defiance in front of a bombed out building, proudly holding a Ukrainian flag…with a ****ing Wolfsangel , who are obviously Azov Battalion !!!! But that’s ok…..no neo Nazis there, eh ? They are the good guys
I just heard they will be looking at taking RT off air…. Russia may respond by taking down the shopping channel or CBBC.
