The Chechens have been involved in the fight in Eastern Ukraine since the start of hostilities in 2014, operating under the radar as they are under orders from the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov - a close ally of Putin, who installed him to power. Also guilty of multiple atrocities whilst fighting, looks like they met their match.... Kiev : Ukraine has reportedly killed a large contingent of barbaric Chechen Special Forces sent to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a major blow to Russia. This Chechen armed group is notorious for its brutal violence and human rights abuses. His convoy of 56 tanks was shot down by a Ukrainian missile near Hostomel, northeast of Kiev. It is not clear how many such soldiers have been killed, but their number is likely to be in the hundreds, the report said. Chechen general Magomed Tushev was also among those reported to have been killed in the Ukrainian missile attack. According to the report, he was the commander of the 141st Motorized National Guard Brigade. It is believed to be the special force of the Chechen head of state Ramzan Kadyrov.
Sounds like good news. The Ukranians in Kyiv are highly sensitive at the moment about "saboteurs" trying to integrate with the city population. If you come across one of the bridges into Kyiv without a good reason or identification, you're dead meat

Still I admitted I got this wrong. Before Putin decided to do a full scale attack many people like former ambassadors, Lord Dannatt, even many in the Ukraine government thought Putin was bluffing. Even now many pundits are bemused by his actions because they don’t make sense. However I’m sure there are enough Internet generals that will be able to call his next move.
I hope we do our bit in terms of taking in displaced Ukrainians. Obviously we’ll make a big announcement about it and then do **** all.

You must be over the moon. You're beloved poster-boy and his fellow miscreants are now getting free reign, their misdeeds consigned to be yesterdays chip wrappings. At least we're not hearing about ****ing parties anymore, and facing up to some of the real issues out there. Unfortunately at the cost of hundreds, if not thousands, of lives. The knock on effects of this war will hurt all of us - you thought the cost of living was becoming an issue, well it's going to get a whole lot worse.
Its probably not that you got it completely and utterly wrong….but the fact you belittled and insulted anyone who had different opinions to yourself. You can’t help yourself…it’s the kind of person you are. Have a bit of humility pal, take it on the chin and move on. You’ll feel better for it and might learn some life lessons.
Bit harsh there steelsy although it must be bittersweet for ells. Helps his party but im sure hes loathing the war. One things for sure though, the poor in this country are up for a hard time and i feel sorry for them in the short term. I just hope for selfish reasons it doesnt create too much unrest (riots etc) but expect crime and stuff to go up which generally happens when people are struggling.

Isn’t that the done thing . Communism of course lost its way……dictators took over, subjugated the poor and took riches beyond their wildest dreams, killing millions on the way….but is capitalism any better ? Killed just as many I would think and created enough wars and dictatorships to suit their means. I considered myself an Anarchist a few years ago and truly believed that kind of system could work….but realised that their will always be bullies and tyrants who make the system unworkable. I wish I had an answer. Now I’m a wanderer trying to find a political home.
