Just listened to the whole game on radio Devon with Sparksey -we won we bloody won! a complete repeat of last season 2-0 down at half time and wecome back 3-2.I'm off to Plainmoor in great spirits predict The Robins will take it.
I listened up to nearly halftime and then the family turned up and the radio went off. I snook out at nearly full time and turned it on again and it was 2 - 2 with injury time just about announced. They scored and I shouted then the wife shouted "turn that bloody radio off it's rude with people here". They weren't people it was my daughter son-in-law and grandson who I knew would be pleased for me. Grandson was not that impressed but then he is not interested in any sport whatsoever. He just thinks it's funny watching grandad doing a jig into the frontroom. It is so spooky that it was identical to last time. Chuffed as a badger's bum.
Great win yesterday for the greens, shame about the other results but at least we are not adrift from the rest. Hope everyone had a good couple of days, I know I have. The sprouts worked a treat as the kids have not been near me since late christmas afternoon. Peace and quiet, can't beat it!
After yesterdays great comeback we need to get our feet back on the ground-we need at least a win and a draw out of the 3 holiday games to keep us in the frame.Obviously a great start, will post some comments about playing Torquay later after watching them get a great result yesterday.
Torquay are a bit of an in and out side this season having started so well only to get a bit wobbly and now win some you might not expect them to and lose others you expect them to win. They will probably start favourite however for their game against us which on paper is about right I'd say. Lets just hope they have a non day next week. I feel a bit starved of football lately so can't wait for the next one.
Quiet in here today, I made the mistake of venturing into the city centre this lunchtime - NEVER A SODDINGAIN! It's bloody heaving in there, think I'll wait until February before trying again but for now I think I've earned myself a .
What gets me about this time of year is that we keep being told there is no money about and how much people are watching the pennies yet there are 10's of thousands in shopping areas. How can 9500 people just be window shopping then. You would have to drug me to get me in there.
I know quite a few Gulls supporters who have already got their tickets for the game -think there is a reasonable chance of hitting 10k for the "devon derby".Just to let you all know -there are quite few greens in good old Newton where I lurk as a Plymouth refugee.Obviously the local team are Torquay given the proximity.I see the odd saddo in a exeter shirt around town -they are usually alone!
If there are ever more than one Exeter male fan in a group it is known as cottaging which is illegal in public aka. If female it is a coven. I would hope for a bumper crowd on Monday and fully expect a minimum of 8000.
Seemed we had a reasonable game up there....except for the 4 bookings....but can't argue with a point away from home.
Yes good result, the lads worked hard for that point. Pats on the back all round, especially Cole for the penalty save.
I listened to the whole 90 minutes this time even though I was at my son's and had two pint sized female ninjas climbing over me most of the time. It was definately hard fought if the commentary got it right and it seemed there were parts where we hung on. But as said a point is a point and there are a few more clubs entering the danger zone now which is also heartening for us. I think the number of bookings might have had a bit to do with the Aldershot players apparently chipping away at the Ref all through the match which was something both Sparksie and his side kick commented on continually. At least we kept 11 on the pitch this time.
Don't do parties Mrs lalala. New Years eve is vastly overated as a night to go out. New Years are seldom happier than the one just gone anyway it's just another uphill struggle and you are a year older than the last one. Anyway I would hate to ruin my reputation by being jovial...........
Agree whole heatedly sensible. Don't fancy going out to pay inflated prices for food and drink (not to mention taxi cabs) when we have it here in abundance and then there's the risk of getting caught up with drunks and maybe even getting stabbed I'm such a cheerful sod eh? Cheers sensible
I'm not the biggest drinker in the World and the last thing I want to stand back and watch is other people getting pissed pretending they are having the time of their lives. If you have to get fally down to say you had a good time then that is a tad sad in my book and I grew out of that years ago. Best of luck to them if they want to throw loads of dosh at a hangover but it isn't for me. And I might get stabbed so you have convinced me I am right.
Stayed in tonight as we normally do on new years eve, watched a film and had a takeaway curry. Waiting for midnight, quick drink and then off to bed.
