It is incredibly worrying just how long it has taken for the penny to drop over Hyam. Under Roy Keane I thought he was our best player who showed Premier League class, could get his foot on the ball and spray it about. Since then we've had to endure Lee Bowyer, Grant Leadbitter, David Norris and a host of others whilst Luke sat it out. When he has come in the results have suddenly improved and then he's been out in the cold again.

It doesn't give me much faith that it has taken Paul Jewell his entire reign to figure out what I saw in about half an hour of watching Luke under Keano. It doesnt give me much faith either that he's patronising the lad by explaining that we have the same number of players as Blackburn in a 'Luke's a five year old kid' manner. It also worries me that Paul Jewell thinks he knows better than Roberto Mancini, Pep Guardiola and doesn't seem to realise that the game has developed and improved since he was playing in the 1980s <doh>

Think you're probably right about Hyam but we need to see him produce those displays week in week out. If we judged on just the one match then that would make JET a bag of crap.

By the way Lancs, I think you are doing PJ a diservice by suggesting that he cannot recognise talent and is living in the past. I know for a fact that he is currently using his expert eye in the transfer market, looking for a quality inside left, a decent right half and fast outside right who can dribble.

Delaney aside, central midfields tend to bear the brunt of the fans discontent. It's about bringing on a 20 year old in a position where older heads tend to reign.

There's no denying his talent, I guess PJ was reluctant to expose him week in week out. It's blindingly obvious the lad needs games to gain experience rather than not play him because he's inexperienced.

I'm prepared to cut Jewelll some slack on this one but he has to play him now!

The same manager who played him on the wing, shoved him in the reserves and loaned him out to Charlton...............

One of the FIRST things Jewell did was recalling Martin, which surprised many, and he's doing very well now.

Also better late than never with Hyam. Will get a decent chance this time around.

Did Leadbitter have something written into his contract making him an automatic pick? Surely Keane or Jewell would have dropped him otherwise, I'm absolutely delighted he's left!

I agree Hyam has a lot of potential and should have been given a run-out in the side a lot sooner than now. However, I agree with Rushmere that he has to retain his form on a consistent basis. I always think we should give our young players a go, that has been the "Ipswich way" to use a cliche. Best of luck for Luke this season, hopefully he can make that centre midfield position his own.

If we sign Edu then I think it's the bench for Luke again.

I hope that wouldn't be the case Hampy, we need Hyam to progress to the next level. He won't do that if he's on the bench again.

Edu would have to play further forwards.

He offers nothing defensilvely or workrate wise,,,,, would be a disaster. Really do not want this to happen.....
