hope your right mate, if the bloke is available at that price I would be disapointed if we aint interested especially with only 1 forward for next season
are we really trying to compare pav to bent? simply put on who is better or who you would rather have in your team, there cannot be any doubt.... if you forget the past history of bent leaving...
I think it's clear we're interestd and have been since January, i reckon he's the one Bruce means when he mentioned 'astronomical money'. If you remember, the southern press AND some of the lads on here all heard strong talk from reliable places about a deal, maybe Spurs, seeing us with the Bent dollar, went for £15million or so. It's conceivable.
I garnered that your point was that pav was not a 20 goal a season striker, my point was, neither was bent until he had 1 season with us, where he did score 24 goals, but its his first time since 2004/2005, which he done with Ipswich in the Championship (not PL) whwere he scored 20 in 45 league games. I was never trying to compare the 2 as like for like, just that bent hasnt always been a 20 goal a season striker, just like pav hasnt. in 2005 pav scored 21 in 25 games for Spartak Moscow. In 2007 he scored 7 in 8 European games, and even last year for spurs he scored 4 in 8 CL games. Yes. I admit that when i see pav play he doesnt exactly say to me he is a class player, and we need him to score 20 goals a season, but then bent never did either before he came to us. different types of strikers though, but i would have pav saying as though we have alredy lost Bent, and i do think if he played regular, he could be a 20+ goal a season striker, but not a poacher like Bent is.
Well that's all our speculation blown out of the water! I've just read this on SSN.... Roman Pavlyuchenko says he is keen to stay at Tottenham despite his concerns over a lack of first-team action under manager Harry Redknapp. The Russian scored 14 goals last season, making him the club's second-highest goalscorer behind Rafael van der Vaart. However, Pavlyuchenko was regularly overlooked by Redknapp throughout the campaign, with Van der Vaart and Peter Crouch being the manager's first-choice pairing. The 29-year-old, who started 25 of Spurs' 53 games, found form at the end of the campaign, leading Redknapp to confirm that he wanted him to stay at White Hart Lane this summer. Contract talks that began earlier this season have so far failed to result in an extension beyond his current deal, which is due to run out in 2013, and the manager has repeatedly stated that he wants to sign a new striker this summer. Pavlyuchenko has been linked with a return to the club which he left to join Spurs, Spartak Moscow, but he says he sees his future at Tottenham. "There is a strong desire to pursue a career in Tottenham, with whom I have a contract," Pavlyuchenko told Sport Express. "A new contract will be discussed after the holidays - my agent will travel to London to hold talks with the leaders of Tottenham." Redknapp, speaking after the striker scored both goals in Sunday's 2-1 over Birmingham, admitted that he was enamoured with Pavlyuchenko's talent, but equally frustrated with his lackadaisical attitude. The 64-year-old maintains he has a good relationship with Pavlyuchenko but the Russian admits he is frustrated about not playing every week. "He (Redknapp) can play one team one week, and then play a very different team the next. It is hard to understand," said Pavlyuchenko. Pavlyuchenko's double against Birmingham meant Spurs ended up fifth in the league, one place below the previous season's finish. He thinks that the club can bounce back next year and finish inside the top three.
Yes, he is, but we've got no chance there either, judging by the way Arry was bigging him up on TV the other night. If it is Spurs we are looking at, it's going to be Crouch.
Wouldn't be like Hasrry to big up a player he's gonna flog to get more money, not as if he did that with Bent or owt is it??
'So Harry, there's talk of you letting Defoe go, any truth in this' 'Yeah the lads ****ing ****, couldn't hit a cliff-face with an Eddie Stobart truck, first £3million and he's gone, the hopeless little ****.....' Unlikely.
How the **** do you manage to dream up these quotes of yours? You've got a hell of a talent there marra. You should be Steve Bruces speech writer for his MOTD interviews next season You had to hear that interview from Arry to understand what I mean about Defoe. Sounded very much to me that he will not be letting him go anywhere.
It's a gift marra, i'm quite famed for them amongst my pals, glad they amuse you! I have to say i don't see a Defoe deal happening, was just a little joke to move on from Pav..
There are a few differences between Pav and Bent, the most obvious being that Bent prefers the lone striker role while Pav needs a partner - it is no coincidence that Bent went downhill when you signed Gyan Pav can score from all over the pitch while Bent likes tap ins/penalties Criticism from Harry means little as both have done better than his favourites Defoe/Crouch/Keane
As a Spurs lad marra, who do you think is likely to leave? I'd prefer Pav, but i think our best chance went in January.
Why move on? Our best step forward is to buy players from stronger Premier League teams. Spurs have a fantastic squad, players who can't get games are proven premier performers. We could in theory take Kranjkaer, Pav, Defoe and Hutton, and we'd be looking quality. Chuck in Warnock from Villa, and Roger Johnson (for whom a bid is imminent ), and we'd be strong as an ox who's been bench pressing Ford Fiestas!
