    Just seen this.

Is this a piss about thread or a serious one ? I'm happy to contribute in either way :)

I thought you were avoiding it on purpose due to the 80's 'incident'.

That was an 'accident' and if you push me to say otherwise, I'll instruct my Lawyer to answer on my behalf. He's ****ing bad ass so I wouldn't mess mate. He's a Cambridge graduate with a penchant for collecting medals, cross him at your peril :emoticon-0165-muscl

Funnily enough around 5 years ago when I was skint/a coke addict, I actually looked into becoming a sperm donor.

Apparently they're not interested in the sperm of heavy smokers who drink and take drugs every day...

That's discrimination against the women who want their children to grow up to be hardcore.

I'm not allowed to give blood for similar reasons. My blood is fine btw, just history going against me.

Not that that would bother managers like Piskie.

On a more serious note, the whole NHS needs an overhaul.

Too many layers of middle management which aren't needed and departments waste stupid amounts on 'accessories' which are nice but unnessecary. For example, I know of one department which decided to replace their whiteboards with 3 62" tvs to the tune of approx 10k... actually less user friendly too I've been told.

Also down here I know for a fact that they rely way too much on agency nurses rather than ones employed directly. Also a huge waste of funds...

****ing right. I can sell dodgy blood for twice the going rate that the clinical commissioning groups have set. **** that 'best value' bollocks.
It all looks the same when it's in the bags ... nobody would bat an eyelid <whistle>

Said it a few times on the politics thread, but basically the NHS is being deliberately run into the ground by the Tories so that they can turn round and say it's not fit for purpose, at that point, they will bring in the big private companies to 'save the day'.

The NHS is expensive, yes there are efficiency savings to be made, like the ones you highlight. But at the end of the day, good quality care, free at the point of access, for everybody regardless of income or social background, costs money and it has to be paid for out of taxes. None of the main political parties want to say that they will raise tax (other than the lib dems who've said they will put 1p on income tax to for the NHS) and the tories have no interest in upsetting their rich buddies by going after the £180bn per year that goes missing in tax avoidance, whilst the media have painted Corbyn as a Trotsky-ite. So basically it's ****ed.

I saw it happening during my time, where increasingly more parts (the profitable and easy to deliver services) were being contracted out to private heathcare companies. That leaves an ever dwindling pot of money from the Dept of Health to pay for the more difficult, long term and expensive services for the NHS to try and deal with. Add to that, lack of staffing and resources, unrealistic target driven services, an abysmal amount of funding for social care and it's a recipe for disaster.

What we'll end up with is a private insurance based system like the US. Where (according to my friends who live there) They have to pay around $800 pcm for basic healthcare cover, which doesn't include the cost of seeing a GP or any prescriptions. The rich will get top quality healthcare, whilst the poor will end up in debt just to prevent themselves from being denied basic healthcare.

    ^^^^Rattled

All I want is evidence that you were not involved in blood importation from the USA to UK between 1981-1983.

You have 2 weeks to provide evidence or we can conclude you were heavily involved.

    I'll await the evidence.
