As I understand it, Capello is leaving the post of England manager after the 2012 European Championships. It's about time England stopped appointing dinosaur managers like Eriksson & Capello and got in a younger British manager who is more in tune with the modern game. Someone capable of introducing a Spain/Barcelona type of play which clearly brings success at the highest levels.

Brendan Rodgers seems to tick all the boxes - anyone worried?

I'm pretty sure that Rodgers hinted that he doesn't want an international job at the moment when he was touted for the Northern Ireland role. It's a completely different style of management to club level after all.

The direct quote is "I have got too much energy to be an international manager at the moment." (yes, I have taken it very slightly out of context but the message is clear). Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15276835.stm

Woy Hodgson. Harry rednapp out of the running due to his impending prison sntance for the alleged fraud. i am sure there must be some English man out there who wants it. England hands off.

I pissed myself laughing when Neil Warnock ruled himself out of the running for the England job. That man has a serious superiority problem. They'll appoint Gazza before they appoint Warnock

Hahaha. We should petition the FA to make Gazza England manager! I'd put my hand in my pocket to make that happen!

I think it'll be Harry Redknapp. I can't see him going to jail for this fraud thing, maybe just a fine, and seeing how he's loaded it'll be no problem. If not him, I can't see it being Hodgson. What's he done!? Reasonably well with reasonable players...

Hang on, maybe he should be England manager... :emoticon-0112-wonde

Harry Redknapp suggested Neil Warnock and the press then asked him what he thought, which is why he ruled himself out.BTW his team finished well in front of Rodgers' last season <cheers>:emoticon-0105-wink:

Its interesting that England managed to deal with Spain the other day. Its almost as if the England players have been playing a team in the premiership who have prepared them for the way Spain play. I wonder who that team can be :)

Dai, the point of the article was that you might give a toss if Brendan Rodgers was appointed England manager.

You must learn to read beyond the thread title...:emoticon-0105-wink:

Even if was thinking about being concerned, the interview I listened to from the other thread allayed any fears when I heard Brendan baulk at the thought of managing anyone except N.I.
