...might prove better than most of us dared think just 2 weeks back when we were in a mighty pile of temporary despairing season slipping poo! Here are some predictions albeit with a slight IPTFC bias! This Sat Middlesbrough v Leeds 1-1 Brentford v Bournemouth 2-1 Brent recovering their form as Cherries continue their dip... Derby v Sheff Wed 2- 1 Derby tired but just nick it...Bent scores again darn it! Ipswich v Reading 2-0 another enterprising strong win and 3pts to the good....making it 3 in a row Watford v Norwich 3-1 Hornets sting those nasty feathered friends and continue their good recent run - joining us a serious contenders Town move into 3rd place...and Johnny set to return in time for end Feb! Tues 24th Feb Blackburn v Norwich 1-0 Canaries swan song for the season! Over and out now.... Brentford v Blackpool Brent win again and move into top 6 once again but will stay very worthy 5th or 6th for remainder of season Derby v Charlton 3-1 Drrby cruise mode now and go top Ipswich v Birmingham 2-0 another strong performance...4th win in a row Middlesbrough v Bolton 1-1 dour game and Boro lose another 2pts. Watford v Rotherham 1-2 The Millers continue their fine streak...we were all surprised by them and snuff out Hornets recent flurry Weds 25th Feb Florrist beat Bnmth with surprising win and that cements our 2nd place. So I expect Town by now to move into 2nd joint...but we need many more goals to improve GD And so a very challenging March, but hey, Johnny is back and brings great joy to PR, and either we have another striker signed up, or McG is back to his best and scoring for fun. I see a season defining win at Carrow road 0-2 with the town masses delirious at our end, and we now go into March with our heads held high and match the best of teams we face with our best. I know I am the Adnams Pint half full fellow, but what do you all think? Get next 2 wins under our belt and we could just be up there!
Oh here we go, footy on paper hey! I cannot see Rotherham or Bolton getting wins / draws at Boro/ Watford. Rotherham don't travel! Norwich surely won't lose both and for what it's worth I don't think we'll win both either. Brentford have just announced their manager is off end of the season, how is he meant to motivate the players for Bournemouth's trip there!? Lets just try to beat Reading Saturday and the other results will take care of themselves!
If we win our next two... which, if we have serious ambitions of promotion this season we Should, then we will be going into March in very good shape. The benefit of the next couple of match days is that someone will drop points.. Norwich, Watford, Brentford & Bournemouth could all lose ground and priority number 1 is to make sure we take advantage. As for March, it will be utter madness and I would guess that everyone will drop points as the games will be bigger and bigger as we get closer to the finish line.
Fair points Westy, just keep the "paper fixtures" and fill in results on the day and see where we are! I did say it was a half pint full set of predictions! I think March will indeed be a mad month, but if we are strengthened in one or two postions I see no reason why we cant continue a fine run of form. Next 2 games very important!
It really is an unpredictable division. Wigan have given themselves a fighting chance of survival with a good win last night. Blackburn and Cardiff's outside shot at play offs now look more remote with last nights draw. Quite what the Brentford board are doing is beyond me................. hope they fail. Next two games are big, our forms odd. One defeat in 20 ( we're the best thing since sliced bread ) One win in seven ( seasons over midtable here we come what is McCarthy doing ) Two wins in a row .......?!
Certainly winning the next 2 home games the priority and will leave us no worse then 4th going in to March.
