I think it's vital we get something out of the United game next Sunday. Hopefully we will have a couple of new faces by then and can get a result. After Sunday because of internationals our next game at Arsenal isn't until 15 Sept then Villa at home the following Saturday. That's a long time to wait to potentially register our first win.

    Bring on United! COYR!

Another thread about our difficult start to the season. Cheers, I didn't realise it was so difficult.

I don't think it's vital at all. A good performance will be sufficient. You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're expecting results from fixtures like these!

I don't like the words 'vital points' in the same sentence as 'Man United.' Wasn't that how we left the PL in 2005? Though of course that was the last game not the THIRD!

Any-thing from the top sides should be considered as 'bonus points'. Let's face it; when you go through the fixture list totting up enough wins and draws to reach the magic 40, you don't include taking points off sides such as Man Yooo.

A win against Stevenage midweek will be good for confidence. There were never many achievable points early doors and it was always going to be a realisation of where we actually are.

Think the 37 previous games might have also had something to do with it <whistle>

I agree that a point against Man U is not vital. It would be nice but I would agree it is really about how we play the game. Any points from the top 5 home or away are bonus for me. My 44 points don't include those at all. I think the break is going to come at a nice time. It will give the lads a chance to work on some more things and we will have 3 PL games under our belt so we will know better how we need to play. The window will be closed as well so NA will know what he has to work with and maybe what formation works with those players.

Don't mind the international break at all. Sounds like there could be several new players coming in at the end of the week. Extra week for NA to evaluate players and for the squad to gel.

its more important to use the time to gel any (hoping) new players. We do not have to perform all season, a 10 game period of picking up say 20 points would be half of what we need to stay up, which has to be the main and only target for this season. We have a really nice closing period so lets just settle in and build the squad abit

Purely speculating i think the Arsenal game is possibly where we could pick an unexpected result rather than Utd they have a few new faces trying to fuse into the team and because of the way they play they will give other teams the chance to play a bit and they will fancy turning us over in stylish fashion in front of thier own fans.My mate is a season ticket holder at the Arsenal and says the faithfull can get very twichy if all is not going to plan.We can go there pressure off a bit like going City and give it a good old go and see what happens as for Utd a point would be fantastic

Arsenal fans get twitchy if not going to plan? Pot and kettle there. Any team can lose to any other on a single day...still have hopes of something in ManU game...otherwise they will start chanting that we're going down. 'Orrible fans. Chap at work was telling me how they sent us down as recently as last season!
