I wish to make it clear that I do not condone violence at football matches, I was around in the '70's and going to certain matches was not a pleasant experience because of the continual threat of violence.

but........ I was talking to somebody who was at Croydon (who is retired and in no way a hooligan) who said that as usual in Croydon the Charlton fans were treated like 5hit .... the Croydon fans were very intimidating and the Croydon police were just there to support the Croydon fans. Add to this the fact that the ref was intent on getting Croydon through to the next round then tempers of the Charlton fans were almost certain to rise.

What is the response from our club and supporters trust? ....

....... let's blame our own fans unreservedly and totally ignore any actions by a Croydon club, their police associates and fans....... that's nice then :emoticon-0127-lipss

Let me make it clear that I am more than happy for the club to condemn violence but perhaps it should get the facts first and give a balanced response.... and CAST's response..... well who cares what they think.

My advice is, if you have any information regarding any incidents at Wednesday's game ........ then keep it to yourself and support fellow Charlton fans <ok>

I was'nt there, so I've stayed out of this debate thus far,Some of those who were there said that the pólice totally bollixed up the arrangements as the fans were leaving, and moved the Charlton buses without telling anyone. But there have been a lot of reports about Charlton fans lobbing bottles into Palac áreas (and incidentally hitting our fans in the process) which could easily end up killing someone. I don't care how provocative their fans were, there is no excuse for that. There were things on both sides, but the fact is we seem to be getting a group of thugs travelling to London derbies with the sole intent of causing trouble, and it needs sorting out. As I said, I was'nt there, but there are a LOT of people on CL who saw stuff that is en embarassment to our club.

While there were idiots in our end, it was clearly both sides throwing stuff. Police seemed completely unprepared.
I don't get palace, where was all of their much famed "hooligan" element anyway? Do they want to be "ultras" or do they want to be a victimised family club? They can't have both.
