poor andy i say..... even i'd sell the ****er... it cost dalglish his job after all (rightly) Hardly a genius move
oops god knows how many ronaldo and messi have been awarded on bribed refs... that pair's ego trip is getting old
Mario had a good game (for him) on Thursday. Was it the right time to criticise him after Gerrard did so for the penalty? In my opinion, some things are better kept indoors. Or was Rodgers trying to get a good reaction from Mario by telling him off in public? http://www.theguardian.com/football...i-blasted-brendan-rodgers-work-rate-liverpool
No he shouldn't have (but like how Rodgers has handled the pen incident with the media), and Gerrard defnitely shouldn't
Look this is just rodgers in one interview trying to end what gerrard started and in another saying balotelli is an ass so he can tell Henderson look here you were right I just needed to end that stuff Simply put there is no need whatsoever to mouth off publicly about any player even badontelly who I hate as I have said before today.... It is an ego trip just like the constant talks port interviews and documentary
But the misses in his career were the big ones. Against England, the CL final, and they were dreadful.
It's absolutely disgusting and I hate how Rodgers has no problem doing this kind of ****. I can't help but feel it's the absolutely opposite of the Liverpool way, showing the world our dirty laundry. Not to mention he played well... I mean you threw him on as a last ditch effort. What more do you expect from him? He stepped up, asked to take a pen and buried it. Why is any of this an issue? Well because for some reason Rodgers can't stand to see Gerrard rightfully reprimanded by the fans and pundits for his comments. I feel like he's trying to take the focus off of Stevie by transferring it onto Mario. That's sad to see and I hope it doesn't rub Balotelli the wrong way.
Balotelli has no future at Liverpool after penalty row, Redknapp tells talkSPORT Mario Balotelli is more hassle than he is worth and does not have a long-term future at Liverpool, Jamie Redknapp has exclusively told talkSPORT. Balotelli fired Liverpool to victory against Besiktas with a well-taken penalty on Thursday night but was heavily criticised by captain Steven Gerrard for defying Brendan Rodgers’ team orders and wrestling the ball from designated spot-kick taker Jordan Henderson. Rodgers was keen to play down the incident after the game, but Redknapp reckons the Reds boss will be privately fuming at the 'lack of respect' shown by the 24-year-old and will be preparing to ditch the £15million signing, who has scored just four goals in all competitions since his arrival from AC Milan last summer. Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former Anfield ace said: “The problem you have with Mario is I don’t think he has got a lot of respect for anybody. "He has worked with some of the best managers in Prandelli, Mourinho, Mancini, everybody he has worked with has tried with this man but nobody seems to get to the bottom of it. "The objective is to put the ball into the back of the net, thankfully that is what he did, but it is not nice to see players arguing like that on the field. "He is an incredibly confident penalty taker and very good at it, but it is that lack of respect that he has. "I don’t see long-term he will be at Anfield, I really don’t. He has scored a couple of goals in fairness, the goals against Tottenham and yesterday were important, but I am sure Brendan Rodgers is thinking he is more hassle than he is worth because he hasn’t produced the quality you would like and when you look at other players around him they don't seem to enjoy his company on the field. "It always seems to be about him, but it shouldn't be. He is working at a great football club with lots of other good young players and I am sure they look around and wonder why he gets so much attention when he doesn’t deserve it." http://talksport.com/football/balot...ls-talksport-150220136989#b37hPWkOVE5jMmYY.99
What surprised me was that after supporting Mario on the pen he balanced it out by criticising for his work rate. Did Rodgers not realise that he did not buy Balo for his running and tracking back? He is no Sanchez never mind a Suarez. It is unrealistic and even counterproductive to try to change Mario. many managers have tried before Rodgers. What makes him think he'll succeed where others have failed?
I think everyone here is having a #meltdown From what I saw the "criticism" was all in the context of being asked if Balotelli is our "main guy" and Rodgers said he still had areas to improve to be considered a guaranteed starter Or should he say "yeah after all the work Sturridge has done and goals he's scored, Balotelli stroking in one great pen now makes him top dog"
I dont think this is a big deal but the media have inflated so the club has panicked. Balotelli is second choice penalty taker and the highest ranked taker on the pitch. Rodgers will have told the squad how it works for penalties so Balotelli is right to assume the kick is his. Henderson has no experience taking penalties and it was vital that this kick was scored, so for the sake of the team it makes more sense that the most experienced and talented kicker on the pitch takes it. I dont think this is an issue with Balotelli alone, its the whole group. If Rodgers has said 'If Gerrard's not on the pitch Mario takes it' then Mario takes it. Even if he did not start. If Gerrard was only substitute no one would need telling that the kick was his and he would not casually give a kick that important to some one else.
Bit of a pointless comment to make about Balo tbh. We are all seeing progress with him but yet again he gets the cold shoulder. Rodgers has gone from 'give me a hug' to 'face the facts or go' which is a dangerous path to go down.
