Lucas hit a peak before his injury, when he was breaking up play well & making more challenges in CM than virtually all of his peers.

However, since his return he's looked nothing special imo & whilst he may regain his full fitness & the form of a couple of years ago, he also might not.

To rave about the current Lucas is based on **** all but memories.....

You have a point, yes his best form was before he got injured but he is certainly regaining that form and I would be happy for anyone to watch him from here on, so are you up for it or are you just slagging him off without proper consideration.

Don't know if you are a manc though?

I got Lincoln off the dodgy DVD man in the Cheese on Sunday. Very good indeed. Also got Hitchcock and Django. Mint quality, all 3 for a tenner <ok>

Quite surprised nobody is willing to give it a go, I found it quite interesting and had to admit that Carrick played well in every game it gave me a better understanding of positioning and the role of that type of player.

We all get the breaking up play part but the positioning and passing part sometimes gets missed and the credit goes to the attacking players.

Not bothered just thought it would be interesting to get the opinion of fans that start as I did with a dislike for a player and maybe change someones mind. Maybe is the word though as I suppose it's down to the individual watching.

Spurs and Villa but Citeh game doesnt count as you were not paying enough attention to the player for the test to work.

I've watched plenty of Lucas and I still don't get what all the hype is about, he just looks like another Lass Diarra to me, he's got a good engine and will always give everything he's got without ever really shining and he will always give away far too many silly fouls in dangerous areas trying to make challenges that he just doesn't need to make, he seems to be pretty easily played around by any team that moves the ball well too because he charges in at full speed like a bull in a china shop, a simple one-two and he's out of the game and he's not exactly blessed with blinding pace to recover.

Having said that, I do believe he is crucial to Liverpool's team, under Kenny he was essential because it was either him or Spearing playing that defensive workhorse role alongside that donkey Charlie Adam, and let's be honest, Spearing is barely even Championship quality, and now Lucas is alongside an aging Gerrard, a incredibly lightweight Allen or the red card waiting to happen that is Shelvey who is tactically poor when it comes to defending.

I agree with TB`s initial post, that since his injury he hasn`t looked the same player.

A question for Luv, Who would you prefer in your team Lucas or Masch if he hadn`t left?

I'd go for Lucas. Masch was great at breaking up the play but was too negative in his passing it was just handed off.

Lucas is just as good breaking up play and hardly ever gives away fouls in dangerous areas. His passing is then positive looking to start attacks.
