O'Dea clearly isn't a left back so certainly isn't going to solve that problem in the long term. Clearly Larry doesn't think so either as we have taken Senegal international Boukary Drame on trial and are apparently interested in Julio Arca and Ryan Bertrand. Personally I think Arca would be the best of all these options. What are the thoughts of my fellow Not606ers?

I agree with Clivetime, which is weird to say. I think Aidy White should have been given a chance ages ago. When we were in League One, struggling with Hughes, Lowry etc. he could have played and improved there.

Either way, whether it's someone signed or Aidy White/Ben Parker, it needs to solved. We sold Kasper for £1million/+ and Lonergran was around £200k apparently, so there's more than enough money to bring in a quality leftback. Leicester signed Peilter for £500k, Ipswich got Creswell for the same price.

Is the fact that Grayson see's Aidy White as more of a winger te reason why he hasn't given him a chance there this season?

    It's not weird to say!

    I'm always right!

Everyone agrees with everything I say apart from Grayson being a poor manager and wanting him out, which I need beating up and shooting for!

Everyone thinks he's tactically inept, makes poor team selections, and is terrible in the transfer market. But while I conclude that means he's poor and has to go, other people conclude that he's a good manager!

    It's ridiculous!

And if he sees Aidy White as a winger, why was the last time he played him at left back and why has he not even getting a chance as a winger?

Obviously because we have got 2 great wingers and Sam as back up. It would have been nice to give him a go against Bradford on Tuesday at LW, but unfortunately for us he's been called up.

Aidy White is the best left back we currently have & seeing O'Dea,a CB,playing there instead will have demoralised him.
Grayson get a grip FFS,no more square pegs in round holes or not only will you lose games you'll lose the dressing room if you haven't already done so.

i dont really see aidy white as a left back in truth. I think parker would be a better choice however this would not solve the issue as i dont think he is good enough just the best out of a bad bunch. I think we should be signing someone. Arca i now see as more of a midfielder but i reckon that would still be a good signing

I dont know im stuck with our constant LB problems, maybe getting lichaj back to play there seeings he played very well there

The signing of O'Dea is a strange one and will certainly not solve the LB position. It shows however that Grayson has no faith at all in White, Parker and obviously Bessone. Good management would have been to play Parker or White there as in pre season, if either were clearly not up to standards and a major weakness then play O'Dea there as a last resort. However Bates comments about last season saying it's no good bringing people in on loan and then putting them on the bench may mean Grayson is under pressure to play loanee's this time around.

Playing White at left back would be another case of a square peg in a round hole because he's not a left back, he's a winger. Dickov played him on the right wing at Oldham. Richard Naylor started off as a striker, it doesn't mean we should get him back to cover for Becchio and Somma.

I was thinking the same thing. O'Dea was clearly playing out of position but he looked a decent defender, made some good tackles and was never beaten by his man one on one.

Yes from what I've seen of him Bertrand is quality & would make an excellent signing. What's more,he's a specialist left back.

it's the fact that aidy white is a winger. He's too lightweight to be decent enough defensively as a full back. He'd make a great attacking fullback, but since we continue to leak goals from that position it's important we get someone similar to Conollys mould, a stable strong fullback who can do reasonably well moving forward. Aidy White is a cracking winger, however.

The best left back that I've seen Grayson sign is Carl Dickinson on loan, so it would be nice to have a natural left back playing their if Bertrand was to be signed.

the best I've seen was Eric Lichaj. He's a natural right back, but he played significantly better at left back than any of the other ****e I've seen down there. Why was Parker not played on saturday if he's meant to be pretty decent? Injured again?

Parker isn't good enough to make it at this level IMO. I wasn't sure about him in league 1 before his injury.

he's been out for so long that I haven't really seen enough of him since I started watching the football again. I heard he'd been rated quite highly and I figured he was just rusty recently and wasn't getting enough game time to get back to his best. I'd also heard many people thinking he was out of his depth, but I put it down to him being very rusty.

End of day, doesn't matter how much potential he may have had. He's a walking sick note, get rid. Get that spacker Bates out so Larry's hands aren't tied and he has the freedom to do his dream job the way he wants to.
