The Jury's out

Collo.

The Jury was out on the divine Micheal Bolton for a LONG time. The majority weren't convinced from when he joined us til well into the Championship season, when things started to turn for him, support wise, now ke is considered, by the vast majority, immense.

So off the back of this I was wondering, which player has taken you the longest time to be convinced by, and how long did it take? And can you remember the turning point when you realised you actually liked them? Doesn't have to be restricted to NUFC.

On a more serious note - Diego Forlan certainly did a lot to improve his tattered reputation in England in the past 2/3 years!

 

I'v always liked Colo even when in his first season for us, i remember a Liverpool fan once mentioning on old 606 when we first signed him that he was a class defender and would show how good he really is, it took a year but i always felt he was something special from his first match against Man utd, thisngs went downhill from there but i always knew he had class and it would take him time, took a lot of encouragement from Vidic at Man utd, so was just waiting for his turning point and thanks to the Championship it helped!!

as for NUFC players i would have to say either Milner or Besty

 

Most recently, Besty. Andy Carroll as well to be honest. I always thought he was a bit of a dick, which he was. Only started liking him in our Championship season. I can't remember disliking anyone else too far back to be honest. I suppose I was just always at that age where I loved every single player, without really knowing a great deal about them. It's easier to dislike someone when I'm at the age where I'm more critical I suppose...
Scotty Parker I suppose. Disliked him at first I think. Then liked him as the rest. Then disliked him again when he moved. Then have started to like him again in the past year or so. Fickle, really.
Also, is it just me that doesn't mind Torres now he's at Chelsea, but hated him when he was at the scousers?

Didn't mind Torres on Sunday, he looked quite good in Colos back pocket.

 

It suits him.

 

Enrique took a while, always looked like he would come good though.

Joey Barton is another, 5 years of being a b£ll£nd to his current status as essential player.

Going futher back Darren Peacock was pants will he started tying back his hair. Srnicek was very good at first either.

 

Barton & Collo took a while for me...

 

Colo is a cracking defender, still worry when he's at the back with Willo though.

Willo has gone the other way for me, last season and first half of this one i thought he was a class CB but recently i've started to realise he really isn't.

Enrique has been class since day 1.

Barton spent 3 years where he could barely get into the team, even in the Championship i couldn't see a place for him really, he's been injured constantly and never had a run, only in Keegans spell he was any good and i suppose that's when i started to rate him. But this season he has been class.

Besty took about a year and even then most of us still don't think he is good enough.

Shola is ****e after 11 years? Potential unfulfilled.

Guthrie was immense last 2 seasons, now barely having a kick although played well in his most recent appearances.

I can't really think of any ive disliked then started liking, even though i know there is some!
