Its standing at £782.50 with gift aid nd it sort of feels about the right time to close it down. If everyone agrees, especially Billy, I will bump it for the next two weeks and close it down on the 1st Febuary, I'm aware this is a footy forum and it maybe time to get back to talking football. I have to say that its made me proud to be a north east supporter to see how both sides of the Tyne Wear divide have come together over this so thank you to each and every one of you. If I could ask for one last push to see how near that £1,000 we can get.
^^^ This, also, a nice way to raise a bit of money would be to put a few good natured wagers against each other on derby day...As long as there's a few of us involved and everyone gives what they can afford (a couple of quid upwards) then if/when you lose, its better giving your money to charity than to a bookie!
Syd, I'm not sure how anyone else feels but I tend to agree with you. It's been a bloody great, fantastic effort & everyone has been really generous. Someone in an unfortunate position will benefit from this. A big, heartfelt thanks to all who joined in on this & helped me through my grief.
I'm pleased it has been of some help to you Billy... I'm sure with the posters who were waiting for their post Chrismas pay to come through, we can get through the thousand pound barrier by the closure date... Ha'way the lads and lasses...
The fund has now past the £850 barrier, and I'm sure we can achieve the magic £1000 pounds by the end of the month...
I had a True Maggie supporter a few years ago who I drank with in South Shields who took part in the Great North Run who asked me for sponcership, I offered him 50 notes, the only proviso was that he had to do the entire run wearing a Sunderland top provided by yours truely. I also had some friends that kept an eye on him during the run but true to his word, he took my money which I was happy to pass over. Whether I could of been so gracious, God only knows. PS, he also had to wash the shirt before I would accept it back, which is more than the majority do from the dark side. By the way we're still on good speaking terms.
As I said Syd, I remember quite a few saying they would donate when they received their January pay packets...Once that's out of the way it should give us a better idea of the final total..
Syd, think youve handled and called this about right so far, My opinion[ only], hows about giving it another month, say end of Feb, the reason being folks are still paying for Christmas, and some folk might want/like to give, but maybe a bit strapped right now. I might be well wrong, but whats another few weeks to us folk? As I said only a few weeks that might just matter, or make all the difference to someone who dont have a few weeks left.
Pay day on the 20th. Will contribute £20. I know it's not much but it's as much as I can afford atm!
