Before you get all cheeky, remember what happened on our very doorstep: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2002/oct/16/minutebyminute.sport
I think it might take a season for Austin to have a level of fitness that we expect at Southampton. Honestly, I think he needs to lose a bit of bulk. He's never been a player who bullies his opposite player, but rather his great movement makes him illusive, so becoming a little leaner would make him better in my opinion, and he would last a little longer in a match.
There's already a itk saying Bertrand is out for five weeks. Feeling really gutted knowing that Shane will be similar. He relies on pace, so there's no rushing him back. What a damaging weekend. Was dreading the Int break, but now just resenting it.
Well if that's true, then he'll be back just in time for the next international break. In five weeks.
So who agrees with my comment that International football is just an unnecessary and unwanted distraction to the club game after Saints players up injuries that we could do without? Hope the compensation is high!!
The whole International scenario is badly timetabled. If these qualification games have to be played then there should be a three week period in December after the all the group games in the European club games have been completed. Bring these forward so that they can be concluded by the end of November then hay ho, the International teams can have their break for a period of three weeks to play 4, 5 or 6 qualification games.
Pelle got a lucky break after his move to East - he would / should be ignored. He screwed up that. Bertrand will be a loss to you guys. interesting.
I'll wait to see what the club says is wrong with the players before I get too down about it. Some bloke on the Internet and watching it on TV does not a physical examination and test make. Also I'd say Long has been our most wasteful forward for us this season, he's not exactly been banging them in has he? So perhaps a youngster pushing him for his place and getting the chance might make him sit up and practice finishing during the week and then there's the new fella coming in , he might hit the ground running but I'm betting one of those kids will take his chance. It's all up in the air and no one knows....
