I cannot believe the amount of trees that must be cut down here to keep the bureaucrats in a job.

I suddenly realised that the photo-card part of my driving license was out of date and needed to be renewed. I could have applied for an up-dated UK one if I had given my daughters address and had it sent there, but decided to exchange it for a French one. Having downloaded the form I then had to provide evidence of my identity, proof that I lived here, a form to say that I wasn't banned from driving, another form to say that I did not wish to drive a HGV vehicle, two current photos, a pre paid envelope all along with the old licence and a cheque.

All of this was accepted at the sous prefecture and I awaited my new license. A week later the whole lot is returned telling me that because a part of my existing one is out of date, before they will give it to me I must take a medical given by a doctor from their list.

I make the appointment for this afternoon and turn up. Having been given a right going over I am pronounced to be in good nick and can get a license. He then issues me with three different certificates, two of which have my photos attached to them. A modest fee exchanges hands and we part on good terms with him telling me that my French is better than his English.

So tomorrow back to the sous prefecture and hope that they will accept my ever mounting pile of paper.

Norway - I cannot find anything about the distinguished road anywhere. I assume that as Toby started most of his not606 life on the General Chat Forum rather than on Watford he has picked up a different message - his is the only one I have seen like that - I could ask the Admin people if it matters to anyone?

 

I know what you mean Frenchie all the manuals at work have gone electronic ,which means we have to print off reams before doing any jobs !!!
In theold day you would go to a tech library and tag out the book you need , now theres queues at the computer terminals to print out the instuctions ,jobcards etc!
and they call this progress! They had a power cut a weeks ago and the back up genny failed , no one could do anything ,it was farcical!

 

Haha OFH my Dad complains every time I speak to him about his ever-growing pile of paperwork. He recently retired and is trying to get everything sorted out, and it seems like the more forms you fill in, the more forms they give you...

 

I see that my "experience points icon does not show on here - only on my personal page - there seems to be a limit to the number of icons you get displayed

 

Leo I think you can only have the 5 most recent displayed or something like that I got a lttle symbol a couple of weeks ago that I could find no write up for ,what it represented etc !

 

i have a blog icon that doesn't show on here too, i think 5 must be the limit, and it doesn't matter about the distinguished road, i was just wondering, though it is odd that Toby's is something different..coz he has more experience than Yorkie...so it can't be down to experience...coz Yorkie is on a distinguised road lol

 

and i'm gutted my green ball is still green! lol...little things..etc etc...

 

Hornette it might be down to Rep, people have fun giving Rep messages to people, with +/- Rep. A lot of idiots were against Elton's adoption, made a few enemies by making them look stupid

At the bottom of every post there's a little star shaped icon, if you click on that you can give people +/- Rep for a post. Takes a while for your Rep lvl to go up but it happens gradually...

 

oh ok so if i want to repair some of the damage you took I just click on the symbol?
