Anyone make their own wine or beer? Or anyone tried any interesting or unusual homebrews? Any of you are brewers? I have four wines/melomels currently fermenting, all about, I suspect, a month away from bottling... Just started oaking two of them. A blackberry wine all from wild blackberries on our land. A blueberry wine, blueberries from a friend's place. A lemon wine, all lemons from Lidl. An Orange melomel. Did a batch of Lemon and Apple last year during lockdown, and now out. Both turned out fantastic so making fresh, even though I won't get to drink them for a year or so. Eagerly waiting my demijohns to be emptied so I can get started on a Cranberry wine for Xmas '22 and a Pumpkin wine for Halloween '22.
Made my own beer a few years back and it was decent but never as good as what you can buy. My Father in law is really good at it though and makes it from scratch other than kits.
I haven't tried making beer yet; seems more complicated than wine. That's partly the reason I haven't bothered with traditional grape wine though. I can buy grape wine made by professionals at any store. Also hoping to grow all my own fruits at the next land and traditional bunch grapes won't grow here,.summers are too hot. We do have wild muscadines growing everywhere though... Might try taming a couple of them. Sampled the blackberry at the last racking, before adding oak chips and it does taste just like a merlot though. So very much like a grape wine.
It's tempting... If I disappear it's because I blinded myself making moonshine and I can't read the forum anymore.
