Wigan are now 5 points clear but Bolton have 2 games in hand so Martinez still has a lot of work to do.

Watched the first half and thought they thoroughly deserved to be in front. If they carry on playing like this then yes, they will survive.

you have to admire martinez, he certainly gets his team fighting and winning when the odds are against him.....well done roberto now try and win at the beginning and the middle of the season and you could win the league with that form.....amazing...

But the important part is that wigan has the points, I think they are going to pull it off - again!

Bolton really need to win their games in hand, but they're not in great form. Hell of an effort by Wigan again.

Any team that beats Liverpool and Arsenal away from home and beats Man Utd all inside a month deserves to stay up in my book.

RM has done a brilliant job of turning things round in recent months.

I'm glad we haven't got to play them again the form they're in. Hope they pull it off and stay up. Let QPR go down with Wolves and Blackburn

At least Wigan are making a fight of it, not like Blackburn.

I watched the entire game tonight, and hats off to Martinez, because he had them playing as a complete unit from back to front, all game, and their play off the ball was top draw, closing down Arsenal throughout the whole game, must admit the only thing that annoyed me was Jordi Gomez, if I was a Wigan fan I would be fed up with the way he slows their game down, but other than that, hell of a game. I'll put money on Wigan staying up after what they have done these last five games, winning 4 out of 5 is good form!..............

You have to hand it to Martinez. I would rather be in Wigan's position with points in the bag rather than Bolton's especially after we beat them this weekend :)
Looking like QPR, Blackburn and Wolves to go down.

I watched the game and Wigan thoroughly deserved it. Their play was similar to ours but played at a far higher tempo. They attacked with speed in numbers and defended solidly in numbers. To be honest, I wouldn't like to be playing them now because I think they would beat us. And I'm wondering if their defeat to us wasn't the motivation that RM was looking for, as it was since then that they turned the corner. I could imagine him telling his players that we were fresh up from the Championship, were being brave with our passing and surely Wigan, with their greater experience, could do the same. Just a thought 'cos that's what I'd have said. By the way, I was really impressed with Victor Moses. He was quicker, stronger and more direct than either Sinclair or Dyer. He'd do a job for us.

A couple of negatives here for us. However much Bolton were motivated to get a result against us, they will really be going for it now. Although I think we are safe, we could still be caught. Stranger things have happened in football. But excluding that we are now playing for £800k+ a place, money that would come in really useful in our transfer dealings so we want as many points as we can.

The second negative is that Ramsey was totally anonymous. If Wenger was mildly interested in signing Siggy before, he will really be wanting to sign him now. A few of us were reasoning that Siggy might not go to Arsenal because he wouldn't get that much game time. Well, if Ramsey is all that is standing between Siggy and a regular start, it's just no contest. For my money, Siggy is a far better player than Ramsey and, no disrespect to our lads, how much better will he be with the likes of RVP, Walcott and Wilshire etc around him? Worrying!!!

In fairness to Ramsey it will take him a couple of seasons to feel 100% spot on after that career threatening leg break. Siggy to Arsenal would be a great move and he would walk into that tteam IMO. Lets hope Wenger has his targets set on another young french/african player instead !

They are now safe after tonight and Martinez is going to get Manager of the Month and a special accolade from the magic circle for yet ANOTHER feat of amazing escapology!!! They play this well all season and they would win the league!!

He'd have to disappear first & I don't think Roberto will be doing that any time soon !
