Bournemouth + On their day more creative than anyone else in this league. Able to take teams apart. GD is worth an extra point. - Never been in this position before as a club. Will the nerves get to them? Watford + Great mental strength. All those late goals. Reminiscent of ourselves in the Lambert promotion year. - Do they have the necessary class/strength in depth? Always likely to concede goals. Middlesboro + Most solid defence in the league. - Might struggle to score in must-win games where they need to take the initiative. City + Have momentum. Midfield can dominate games. Strong depth of squad. - Tend to be sloppy in both attack and defence, destroying the good work of the midfield. Do the players have the mental strength? Derby + Been there before. On paper, one of the strongest squads. - On a bad run, need to get their act together immediately to turn it around. Ipswich + Well-organised, with clear game plan. Limited, so they do the simple stuff well and don't throw away games through carelessness. - Limitations mean they can't dominate games. One-dimensional. Brentford + No nerves, since they probably didn't expect to be in this position and anything now is a bonus. - Like ourselves, rather erratic. Prone to losing games they shouldn't. Wolves + As with Brentford, nothing to lose from this point on. Have momentum. - Too many points to make up. Not enough class throughout the whole squad. Any thoughts?
Bournemouth + Seem to have got over their blip and are winning games by a clear margin, so excellent GD. - Being top in the championship this season seems to be a curse. Could be due a run of refereeing decisions going against them Watford + Have been on an excellent run and scraping a win in games they looked like losing. - Nor sure they could keep going with an injury to Deeny. GD over recent games could cost them Middlesboro + Excellent defensively. - Not scoring enough and GD over recent games is very poor . City + Excellent depth pf squad. 4 players on > 10 goals.. Several players have been here before. - Defenders ‘switching off’ has cost us too many goals. Have been giving away soft penalties, but this appears to have stopped recently. Derby +Nearly won promotion last year and have some excellent strikers. - Recent form is the worst in the top 8. Ipswich +Play well as a team and in MM, have the most experienced manager. - Too reliant on one player for most of their goals. Brentford + ‘Batting above their average.’ Probably playing for their manager who will be sacked at the end of the season. - Poor GD and no ‘stand out’ player. Wolves + As with Brentford and have some excellent players. - Have some tough games coming up over Easter.
Here's another take on the 8 teams involved: http://www.kickoff.co.uk/42981/how-...-norwich-city-derby-county-and-ipswich-town/? I still think that the next two matches over Easter will begin to sort this out.
