And at the same time, Middlesex have basically scored 400 in two matches. And yet also only have two points. For pretty much a decade, they've relied solely on Malan and Stirling (and ABDV last season). Their other batsmen finally come to the party in these two games (the likes of Gubbins and Holden had barely scored a t20 run before last week), and they still can't win. Not that I give us a chance tomorrow, but it's weird/nice to think we'll be top (or joint top) with a win.
Yep, chasing 209 we were ahead of the chase all the way through and managed to blow it in the final 2 overs. Could even have lost in the end. Will take the point but disappointed.
It's interesting that Sussex have given Salt the gloves for this competition. I'm not sure if he's ever kept in a professional game before? (Even if has, he can't have much experience.) Given that up to eight overs will be bowled by Briggs and Beer, he'll be standing up to the stumps a lot. And then spending another four overs dealing with a complete mixture of extreme pace and extreme slower balls from Mills. Not necessarily an easy ask for a rookie keeper.
Alsop and Weatherley both being caught on a tiny, tiny boundary is almost hilarious. The likes of Salt, Wright, Bopara and Weise will no doubt destroy it.
Fuller has about three of these innings per season. He can't buy a run in any of his other innings (which is ultimately why I'm not a fan of his). But when he has his three, it's fun.
Signing Bopara has really transformed their batting. (Or at least it should.) Last year they had an excellent top three - one of the best in the country - but very little after that. Whereas now having Ravi at 6 gives them much better depth, even if they do lose early wickets.
