A very interesting article, apparently we've made him a lucrative offer. I wonder if we'll also make an offer to Joe Clarke? I doubt that either would actually sign, why would they wish to leave Notts now when they are on the up, having a good season in the Championship and realise that we're struggling to rebuild a bit after effectively losing Vince? I know the article mentions uncertainty about Peter Moores' position but, unfortunately, I don't think they'll end up leaving. I was hoping we were considering Hameed at the time he left Lancs so it would be good to get him eventually, a good solid county opener. He has clearly rediscovered his form since joining Notts and in Div 1 too. So many players on the move!
Gubbins plays a forward defensive to a straight ball with no movement and still gets bowled. I think we should let him go at the end of the season TBH.
Stokes out of fifth test with shoulder injury . England captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the fifth Test against India, which starts at The Oval on Thursday, because of a shoulder injury. Ollie Pope will lead the side in Stokes' absence while Jacob Bethell will bat at number six. There are also three changes to the bowling line-up with quicks Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse, who has played all four Tests so far, also missing out alongside spinner Liam Dawson. Seamers Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue and Jamie Overton are included while Chris Woakes retains his place. England XI for fifth Test v India: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (captain), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Smith (wicketkeeper), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue.
No real surprise, he had a lot of bowling in that last innings and could not make an impact. You can't bowl 0 for of 47 over and expect to retain yout place. One wicket would be a strike rate of 270. The greats are 40 to 50. He also had runs to play with. Holding up an end in That test match when england were so far ahead was not an option. I am disappointed. I think he is a good cricketer. But you need to grasp the day.
Yep, missing Vincey, Special K and Abbas massively this season. Just a bit too early for our young guns but they're getting great experience. The senior players bar Kyle and Daws have been disappointing.
I don't know, I'm hoping that the 50 over stuff will free him up a bit and get him scoring again, restore some confidence. The same with Prest.
I assume we can't get Dawson back involved in days 3 and 4 of the Worcs match now, have we named someone before the match to drop out for him? I guess not as management probably expected him to be playing.
This is an important afternoon coming up for Prest. He go himself in before lunch, now needs to kick on and get at least a 50.
