Wow STH I think that is the most sensible post I have seen from you and would agree.

Why a manager who took the club to the PL is now deemed unworthy is beyond me and very short sighted. Most promoted Championship teams would find it a struggle to survive in the PL.

It is the usual self-delusion by club directors. They get promoted, have one or two good seasons in the sun, think that they have become established then almost inevitably struggle and sack the manager that got them into the top flight in the first place. Only Southampton (and possibly Swansea) have bucked the trend in recent years by sacking a manager and hiring one that took them higher in the league.

As much as I hate to defend the donkeys, as it says in the report Folkestone agreed to the switch. If the manager and players are unhappy at the situation, they should moan at their own board.
This does throw up some issues should the Jersey FA finally see sense and decide to join the English pyramid system. As Guernsey have regular competitive football, it's going to be a very long time before we win the Muratti Vase again, unless the rules are changed so we could have Brett Pitman (Bournemouth) and Peter Vincenti (Rochdale) in the team. As I've mentioned before on this thread, Gibraltar becoming a full member of UEFA was encouraging for Jersey to finally get a yes to any future application made for membership, which has been denied twice in the past. However, the funding from the FA towards a new pitch at Springfield Stadium has been received, so that means the JFA can't apply to be an independent member of UEFA, because if they were accepted, the money would have to be repaid.

Can't the money be given in some other form, perhaps an aid package via the Cayman Islands? I'm sure there are many owners of clubs in England who could give advice on this.

It's absolutely true. If you were able to spend more money on your wage bill than last year's champions league runners up Borussia Dortmund you'd be nailed on to stay up. Or maybe not.

3-0 is a good football note for me to finish on. Have to cross the water Thursday so will not be around for the next game. :emoticon-0101-sadsm Usually manage to time my visits with a home game, but not this time. Next trip likely to be October, so when will the fixtures be available? ;)

Evening all, just in from The Vic after a scruffy but very welcome win. Just a shame we did not hang onto a few more points and a couple of other teams stumbled a bit - we might have made the play off lottery.
I think the fixtures come out in late June OFH - in the pub before the match we were discussing the likelihood of a decent friendly in a nice warm location...

So if the long-range weather forecasting wallahs are right, we could all be visiting AK for some glogg and hakarl pies?

Speaking of food, I'm off down south in a few minutes - paying a visit to The Devil's Porridge...

Thanks for the caramel latte Ak, Hakarl sounds a bit too close to Japanese ritual suicide for my liking! <ok>

We miss our home in Wales so much. However we are renting a nice place by the sea in Selsey. I met another Hornet here the other day - he was sporting a Hornet's jacket but I did not get the chance to chat properly.
