Morning all... Back last night for a superb week in the Norwegian fjords..... ... and now off to the Vic
Morning all from a sunny Jersey. First day of the outdoor softball season. At 11, alongside the captain of the team I play for, I'm umpiring the match between our sister teams, and the opposing captains are a married couple. We're then playing at 1, and the wife of the couple I mentioned is umpiring our match, and the opposition includes the JSA President and Chief Umpire in their team. After our match, there is then a social gathering of the 3 sister teams at the home of the couple I mentioned. (Hope you managed to follow all of that!) As the social event will start after 3 (matches last about 2 hours), I probably won't know our result until I get home this evening.
Morning all.... .well the season is over ... for us....... It was actually great to go yesterday with much less angst than usual....... positively a good day out...
Morning all from a bright & sunny, although a little chilly Bandit Country. Better day at The Vic yesterday and the crowd was more vocal, although I get the feeling that like me, most were very happy the season is over. Difficult day tomorrow. We have the funeral of Mrs W_Y's ex Sister-in-Law, who died a couple of weeks ago after a year long battle with Leukaemia. Despite being divorced from Mrs W_Y's brother for a long time, they have kept quite close, particularly for there 2 sons - one of them stayed with us a lot during their painful marriage break-up. The eldest is in his mid 30's and the youngest in his late twenties, so it will be a very tough day for them. One real positive is in the past year, the eldest son has got married and they will be expecting a son in August, so she had some sunshine in her last few days.
A beautiful morning here, spoiled only by the nearest neighbour cutting a hole in the wall nearest us to make a new window.
Wish there was a trophy for this: http://www.mirror.co.uk/money/premier-league-club-won-property-7981557
Morning, Dave; morning, all. Over to sunny Dunce-stubble today for a course - joy. Have a good day, everybody else.
Found this on Twitter and thought it worth a share - Deeney's stats compared to those selected for the Euro squad. Makes for interesting reading.
Interesting, BB, though without games played and with a few slightly subjective criteria, probably best taken with a pinch of salt! I suspect a few of football's past "greats" might not have been selected had statistics been a major consideration. Personally, and I fully expect most on here to disagree, good as Deeney is I'm not convinced he'd be a great success at international level, but then we'll never find out unless he gets a go!
You're probably spot on with that. I think the two telling stats are passing accuracy, in which he falls down a bit, and aerial battles won - Woy doesn't really play that way. Still, it creates a good argument.
