I think I should become more involved in these conversations! So - it is sunny but cold here at the moment. The mountains have their first covering of snow after heavy precipitation in recent days. We need more snow as ski areas begin to open in the middle of next month and the family have got all their ski gear sorted for the season. Unfortunately we will have to share the slopes with Australians this year.

    Good Morning Folks.
I share NZ's feelings on contributing here. Alas it's not really prudent to go on about work (tales to tell, but best not eh?!) and at the moment there's precious little else going on! I have a whole list of things left to do with my life, alas I think skiing is one thing I won't get around to not having done it when I was a young man. I doubt I'll ice skate ever again either, not that I miss it particularly. It's been 30+ years and I don't bounce like I used to. Horse riding lessons are on the radar, if a long way off.
Right, up and at 'em... enjoy your day folks.

Morning all. Sunshine and showers is the order of the day in rural France, again! Still the forecast for later in the week looks hopeful. Off to the hospital this afternoon to get our second vaccinations, four weeks to the day since the first ones. We have been bombarded with reminders, both e-mail and text. The chances of forgetting are slight. Our daughter, who you will guess is younger than us, gets her first one on Thursday. It is also her wedding anniversary today, but her husband who has been stuck in Switzerland since January will not be celebrating with her. Family life has really gone to pot in a country that values it so highly. Have a good day whatever you must do. <ok>

Frightened those pesky Aussies will show you up at skiing too?;)
We beat you at football, beat you at cricket, beat you at League - but don't forget that we let you win the netball last time out...:)

A one-legged Lascar sailor could show me up at skiing. I was actually thinking about the crowding. Given the plague of mice currently in Australia all the Aussies want to come here.:emoticon-0108-speec On a serious note rodent infestation is not one of the consequences of climate change that I'd thought about. It sounds absolutely horrendous.

I'm not too sure that climate change is the cause - ever since the First Fleet arrived, bringing the wee beasties with it, there have been regular cycles of drought followed by rains/floods, in rough ten year patterns. The rains bring bumper crops, the crops unfortunately bring bumper numbers of mice - although it does depend a great deal on winter temperatures. If there has been a particularly long cold winter, numbers drop considerably, but they have been few and far between, allowing mice to breed at a rate that would give Fibonacci a migraine. I daresay that the bushfires play a part too - not necessarily killing mice, but killing predators such as snakes, goannas, raptors etc.

Morning all. Grey and not very warm, but dry at the moment. Received our second vaccinations yesterday and a certificate to say that we have been done. It has one of those strange boxes with lots of squiggles in it, there must be a name for it that I don't know, that I gather can be used in conjunction with a phone app. Wearing my short sleeved Hornets shirt for ease of access to my shoulder I went to a DIY shop afterwards and found that the person standing behind me at the cash desk was a Southampton fan. We will enjoy seeing you again next season as there have been some good matches between us. I didn't mention one game at the Vic. Have a good day all. <ok>

Southampton is now one of my must go to away days. Cracking little pub down the road from the ground called the Prince of Wales on the edge of a bit of a rough'n'ready estate - but excellent beer, decent tukka, Mod/Ska/Punk music, great staff, friendly patrons, and all less than a fifteen minute shuffle (about ten minutes if you make it a route march) from the turnstiles! Can't go wrong!

This made me think - is the creator of this thread still around? Haven't noticed his name for a good while...

Morning all. At last it looks as if it might be a decent warm sunny day. Man in high vis jacket just went past the window. I wonder what he is up to? At first I thought it might be the UK Prime Minister wandering off track, but then I noticed he was quite slim. Election here on Sunday to replace our disgraced Mayor, and my friend Lenin is standing. Don't agree with a lot of his politics, but he is a good bloke with many sensible ideas. I don't get a vote thanks to Brexit, but I might just have been inclined to let him loose on some of the far too chummy council members. Have a good day whatever you have planned. <ok>

Morning all. Bright blue skies and comfortably warm. Yesterday was the first time for ages that I could get at some of the areas in the field where I cut the grass. As it was more than 2'.0" high in places the only thing to do was to take the strimmer to it before getting the mower to work. A couple of hours twisting in semi-circles and bits of me said enough. The fringe areas that I only cut later in the year are a mass of colour from the wild flowers that seem to like the weather, and there is a mass of insect life to watch if you sit and take a breather for a few moments. With all the butterflies and birds to also watch it can be difficult to get back up from a bench and motivated again. Have a good day whatever you have planned. <ok>

Morning all. A lovely warm morning, and the traders at the huge market down the road will be grateful for that. I am told that there is a special area today for tasting local produce, but although I have had two vaccinations I am still avoiding crowds for the time being. Mme. took some fruit to one of our friends yesterday in the hope that something might tempt her husband into eating and drinking. He has been very poorly, but has been hydrated at the hospital and is well enough to come home. He has a day of tests next week to try and find the cause of his problems. I hope that Mrs. Fez tests have gone well.. Have a good day all. <ok>

Howdy folks. A photo of some flowers growing wild not far from my office. I think it's a Star of Bethlehem but confirmation or otherwise would be nice. I have not seen these pretty flowers before.
Long story short, Mrs Fez goes back in another four months, thanks for the well wishes.
We say our goodbyes to Mrs Fez Snr. on Tuesday.
I am going to see my mother for the first time since September on Sunday. She's been in a care home on palliative only. 130 mile round trip for a half hour visit. We do Skype on a weekly basis but it's ever decreasing circles.
On a happier note it's our wedding anniversary next month and we've a posh hotel booked up. :emoticon-0115-inlov 20210525_150215.jpg

We are being hit by a weather bomb this weekend - heavy rain and high winds. There will be flooding in low lying areas and snow down to about 800m.
As I write the weather howls.

Wow! These are actually growing wild, as best I can tell, on a roadside verge. It is a private road so I won be digging anything up! Mrs Fez will be interested to know, I merely thought the flowers were pretty and not seen them before.
In other news Mrs Fez has just brought me breakfast bed! More a consequence of her having been up and about since 5am than anything else. Nice treat. I have a a shower to clean and my ears need lowering before I drive over to see my mother. I may well indulge in several beers this evening...
