If my dog could talk she'd say "the dog owners on here sound like right nobbers... apart from you, of course, dad" <cheers>

little ****er did a runner / swimmer today :headbang:
some twat was messing around on a unicycle & distracted me and she was off after a squirrel and after that fled up a tree she spotted Some Canada Geese who tried to escape in the river it was that 20 mins later she reappeared back on dry land only to spot what turned out to be an old or injured Canada Geese sitting in a huge "puddle" and she tried to kill it but failed due to the muzzle though she did batter the crap out of it .
She seemed surprised i didn't seem overly pleased with her <doh>

There's an invention you should try mate, you may already know this but I was a police dog handler in the RAF so have some experience with dog training.
    What you do is...

Put it on a lead you daft ****.

it was on a lead , hence the reference to being distracted but she is one strong ****er ,and i cannot risk another high speed crash , though in this case she just ripped the lead from my hand despite it being double wrapped before i even knew what was happening .
She is on really thin ice atm & the rescue centre gets closer by the ****ing day .

    Border Collie
only found out when i took her for her first booster jabs that she was Irish (the original vacc records showed a vet in County Donegal) and if i'd known that buggered if i would have been stupid enough to have her <whistle>
Thing is she looks really well behaved until there is something to chase only 2 weeks ago a bunch of Canada Geese flew overhead and then they honked which she saw as personal challenge and just took after them . I found her approx 1hr 15mins later a totally bedraggled ,filthy , shivering wreck who you could smell from 15 feet away .:emoticon-0119-puke:
What makes it more embarrassing is i had my last rescue Collie so well trained i didn't even bother taking a lead with me .

Your dog is a dickhead mate. You own a dickhead dog.

Nothing worse than a dickhead dog.

    My condolences.

If it's a border collie it isn't that strong you just need to keep an eye. As you'll know easy to train so just train a recall until she's really good. Make sure you have a treat she really loves as a reward.

Thing is i now have only one properly working arm the other has a blocked Ulna Nerve meaning reduced grip in hand plus minimal triceps function so she doesn't need to be that strong .Plus you may not have noticed this but wheelchairs have wheels which means she can easily drag me Boudicea style <laugh> unfortunately with 4 inch dia front castors it just a tiny bit of pavement edging can be enough to stop the chair dead with unfortunate consequences.
She understands recall perfectly well but i'm not interesting enough to overide the chase impulse though normally she will then return after the original chase ,so back pretty quick, but in last couple of months has started again obsessing about Ducks & Swans etc and that is the real problem as where we walk is near a river because it is flat has tarmac paths and open fields and small "woods" . Last time we had this problem was before my arm ceased functioning and so was more able to control her that is why the rescue centre looms if she carries on like this though Mrs Solid aint going to like it in the least .

If I could I'd pop up and sort it out for you. Hard work when they don't listen but I'd need to see her behaviour to be able to give you a training plan. If there's a good behaviourist near you use them.

It's tough but sometimes best for both. Get a small dog that can hop up and go for a ride instead of taking you for one.
