Good Morning Everyone, Who would have thought it? Leicester City Champions of the Football League!! 12 years ago when we were relegated from the Prem, I would think many of us would have put good money on us being Champions again, efore Leicester even made the top 4. Thoughts? Is the Prem (standard) better or worse that what it was in the early to mid nineties? Burnley have been promoted back to the Prem (tell yer what, Joey Barton made a big difference. Brighton have to beat Boro at the Riverside to go up Automatically, otherwise Boro are up! Brighton, Hull, Derby and the Wendies occupy the play off places. The Wendies are 14 points behind Brighton. Barely seems fair, does it?
Morning Elland and all. Leicesters achievement, for me, has shown what is wrong with the pl. for too many years top teams have gotten away with less than 100% effort in matches thanks to the overpaid prima donnas there. Leicester have been fully committed in every game this season and have a huge team spirit. Tell you something too, they could give the CL a hell of a run next season. Hugely enjoyable season watching them. Just proves these Italians in charge really know their football
Morning all Leicester has just proven you don't need to throw 100s of millions to win a trophy what you need is the right man as manager at the right time. I laughed at Ranieri getting the Leicester job because I thought he would get them relegated but he got them the Premier title. Next season could be a different ball game. With Pep, Jose and Klopp in charge of clubs in the prem i expect the Scum, Citeh and Liverpool to be in the top 4 and Leicester to struggle to get the Premier title back but stranger things happened last night. Has standards slipped in the last 20 years? Standards for British players have slipped. When I started following Football we had the likes of Shearer, Gascoigne, Ince, Beckham and an up and coming Owen. Who do we have now? Wellbeck and I'll say this now with the say the English game is going with foreign coaches we're going to find it hard to find good talent.
Was the league weaker this season? The truth is the Foxes were in a "perfect storm": Man Utd were Shyte, Man City were in and out, Liverpool garbage early on, Chelsea league champions imploded and Arse were Arse. So the way was left open for the foxes and they and spuds capitalised as well as saints. I applaud the foxes but unless the top 5 all fail again at the same time it will never happen again. Was also the lowest points total for league champs.
Morning Eire, Not all Italians know their football Yeah, fair play to Leicester, but who would have thought it?
Morning Doc, yeah, I kinda agree, but does this mean the traditional top teams have been weaker, or the rest have been stronger?
Not so sure about that. Theyve won a fair few world cups, maybe thats why some are biased against them
I always thought the Italian national teams were among the most technically gifted teams in world football.I think teams underestimated Leicester and then were beaten because Leicester rolled their sleeves up.
Agreed. At a guess Id say they appeared in maybe five finals, no mean achievement. Im sure the stattos will be along shortly to correct me though
Shame really that with all this Italian quality there is out there you got Pinocchio please log in to view this image
Morning WCD, I remember in DOL biography that he was saying there were times that the Leeds team had to dig deep and show a gritty resolve. Tell you what, we need a Noel Blake, we need a Viney Jones, we need an Ian Baird....
