Yeah I'd be disappointed if he went there too, you'd think he'd have higher ambitions. Even if he didn't join us, I'd expect him to go to someone near the top of the Championship/potentially bottom of Premiership. A Blackstock type player would be a good addition; but if we could get one of them plus a Wells type forward we'd be laughing. I still think Smith is a handy player and he's got the potential to be a lot better, but I agree that he doesn't bring others into play as much as he could do
So Barnes has joined Burnley officially and Wells to Huddersfield. Interesting the ones that cost money, we don't get but loanees are not a problem. A trend developing here I wonder
Eire, we've got 2 of the 3 we need, and so far it's cost us stuff all. Will be interesting to see what happens to Kebe if we don't win promotion but at least make the playoffs. Cue for a song, Will he stay or will he go?
In fairness by all accounts we bid the same amount for Barnes and it was totally the player's decision. Burnley are looking for auto promotion and we are not so as a player or a neutral you'd struggle to choose Leeds in this instance imo. Wells isn't a done deal (in fact we don't even know if McD wants him, I'd assume he does) and I really cannot see him going to Huddersfield to be honest, this will just speed up all the other clubs interest in him I reckon and now clubs will know exactly what sort of money it takes for Bradford to accept as well.
How much did we bid for Barnes? That will give some indication of McDs budget. Was it six or seven figures do you know Josh?
Kebe should be a great signing even if only for three months, Stewart an unknown quantity and could go either way reading what others have had to say, Hull and Charlton fans
All the talk about a fee to Brighton for Barnes is garbage. He's out of contract in the summer so has hardly any value. We knocked Birmingham back in the summer because they wanted £500k for Burke, so can't see anyone paying £750k for a player who is free in a couple of months. Why would Barnes choose Burnley over us, I bet it all comes down to wages and signing on fee - so fook off you greedy twat. As for Wells choosing udders, well I can only think he's another greedy twat with no ambition
Who has said he has chose udders. He hasn't even spoken to them yet, Bradford only accepted a bid this morning, give the guy a break
Kebe & Stewart give us two wingers with Aniyibi in the background. If we only made the play offs and Kebe elected to go somewhere else despite us wanting him to stay, it would give Aniyibi an opportunity to step up, & that's assuming we don't use Byram, Murphy or Mowatt out wide.
Thats also assuming Aniyibi is any good. Also unproven and released by Southampton. Why do people continue to get inflated ideas of the freebies we get just because they are young.
Law of averages says we'll get a gem one day Eire. Given that I trust BMD, maybe Aniyibi could be that player.
Getting a gem one day I'm afraid is not good enough. We had a few gems in the recent past like Snodds and Max and sold them both. Dont think we're a selling club again, but attracting that sort of quality is a tough ask unless you pay the money. Stewart has the potential but as failed everywhere he's been, but thats not to say he will again, afterall look at Townsend he came good for his club after leaving us. Stewart and Townsend are similar so lets hope Stewart knows how to turn it on and keep it on at last. Home grown gems we've also sold, so lets hope Mowatt, Lees, Byram and Poleon can make themselves into the new Kewill, Smith, Delph, Howson ......
[h=1]Huddersfield Town weighing up club record bid for Bradford City striker Nahki Wells[/h]10 Jan 2014 08:44No concrete offer has been made by Town for Wells, but sources suggest the club have registered their interest in a player they have long admired Share on printShare on email please log in to view this image Bradford City's Nahki Wells Bradford City hot shot Nahki Wells is in Huddersfield Town's sights - but they could have to play the waiting game in their bid to land the Bermuda international for what could be a club-record fee. And Kidderminster frontman Joe Lolley is also firmly on the radar , although any deal is unlikely to be sealed until after the Conference club's big FA Cup clash with Peterborough on Tuesday. But Town, who host Millwall in the Championship tomorrow, have distanced themselves from a loan move for Manchester United's Italian frontman Federico Macheda. No concrete offer has been made by Town for Wells , but sources suggest the club have registered their interest in a player they have long admired . While midfielder Ollie Norwood continues to be linked with Celtic and striker Jon Stead with Sheffield United, I understand a move for Wells could stand alone. Bradford say they have knocked back one bid, believed to be from Wolves, while other clubs are reported to be tracking the 23-year-old, who was a summer target of Peterborough.
Though Sky sports are saying........... Huddersfield Town are closing in on the signing of in-demand Bradford City striker Nahki Wells, Sky Sports understands. Wells' future has been the subject of intense speculation during this month's transfer window, with a host of clubs believed to be chasing his signature. The likes of Leeds, Middlesbrough, Burnley and some Premier League clubs have all been credited with an interest in Wells, but Huddersfield are in pole position to land the Bermuda international after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Bradford
Apart from unsubstantiated rumours do we actually know whether BMcD is even interested in Wells ? The lad might not have any choice to make if Huddersfield are the only club to table a bid.
Afternoon Elland, I licked a stripper because the voices in my head told me to. Just a normal Friday in Lincolnshire then. Very unsure on Hunt. He had chances right at the start and did zero to impress me. What makes you think anopther chance could help?
