Good Morning Folks Should an armchair football fan (or a plastic, as they are sometimes known as) enjoy the same kudos as a season ticket holder who follows their team week in, week out during wind, rain or snow? If I use myself as an example, I'm based in Southampton, on the South Coast; and I'd be lucky to attend a couple of games a season. Does that make me any less of a fan, than a season ticket holder? Those of you who do not find it easy to get to Elland Road, whether it be distance, work commitments or bad health, if you were given an option to purchase a season long streaming pass (like LUFC live games to everyone) for let's say £250 per season, would you take advantage of this? What if it we £10 a game? How would this effect home gates?
Morning all and I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I’d have no problem paying £10 a match to watch TV game Being at the ground and winning does have more of a buzz than seeing score updates or watching it on TV, if I lived local I’d be at many of the games. Leeds United relies heavily on gate receipts and fans lifting them at games so fans attending and helping virtually sell out home games and away allocations do deserve more Kudos however I don’t personally feel it makes you more of a Leeds fan. I feel if anyone was a Leeds fan 15 years or more ago and they still are today after the turmoils of the last decade and a half then you’re a true Leeds fan but yes, Kudos (praise) should definitely go to those at the ground cheering the team on.
Morning all, off to eldest's for Bossy Day, so won't be online for a good while. Already getting the evil eye 'cos I'm going to ER this after. So much for kudos, eh? Would love the option of having an away season for LUTV or whatever. I'd snap it up in a minute. Wouldn't bother with home games, unless I was ill or abroad or something. TTFN.
Streaming season ticket won't happen due to ban on showing Sat 3 pm games live, but if it did I'd buy one if the quality was good. Fair play to those who are able to go week in week out like Heidi, but some of our Leeds-based contingent sometimes forget how lucky they are. You'll hear people say they're not going back till so and so's left the club, or the football/tactics are crap so they're not going to this game or that game - myself and another occasional Irish visitor of the rocker persuasion have often discussed how much we'd love to have those problems, and how we'd be there come hell or high water given the chance - I appreciate it might not always work out that way in practice though. Tickets have become scarce this year already, imagine what it'll be like if we do get promoted, so I don't think Radz will be losing too much sleep over filling the ground.
Normal 3.00pm kick-offs not for me as that is 1.00am to 3.00am, I know part-timer, wimp etc... 12.00 noon and evening matches are ok time-wise but not enough of them to justify a "season ticket'. If there was an option to watch the match in time shift mode so that it was available to stream as soon as I woke up and I didn't have to go onto the LUFC site and risk seeing the score, then that would be interesting Jesus, how the hell did you lot stand up to watching the Blackburn match, has Radz got shares in some Yorkshire heart Hospital?
Question. Do Leeds fans go to home games to watch the football because they like going to games... or do they do it to support the club financially? They contribute to the club financially as s bi product of their hobby. I have a season ticket at my gym, my golf club. I don’t do it to keep David Lloyd’s in business, or the grandads with their clipboards and ill- fitting blazers at the golf club in a retirement job. This ‘better Fan’ business is bollocks. I just happen to be a lazy Cnut who likes watching on telly. Doesn’t make me any less of a fan. If I liked overpriced cold pies it might be different. Spoken like a true plastic
In the Premier League a statement like that is irrelevant. The bit about supporting the club financially by attending games. The new TV deal which started last season meant that every team un the Peem could allow free access for fans to every game and still make more money than they did in the previous season. Exactly why Radz is peed off
Personally I couldn’t give a toss who’s the better fan or real or plastic. I know what a Leeds win or defeat does for my mood. I was at the Birmingham game when we lost, and being truthful, enjoyed the day but not the game. I’ve watched the villa game and today’s on tv with family, screamed our dead’s off and had an absolute ball. In fact, spent a large chunk of our Xmas watching the highlights. Does that make us plastics? Do I give a ****?
What really pisses me off is people who can't cope with me being a Leeds fan and not supporting Engerlaaand. Like Davy I wish it was just a case of driving, or walking to the Elland Rd to see the match but it's not that easy for some of us.
I'll take your 'being a Leeds fan and not supporting Engerlaaand' and raise you 'being a Leeds fan and hating england".
Your an Aussie, your not supposed to support England, you're just getting confused between can't cope and taking the piss out of your **** football nation, like we do the Irish and Jocks.you just need to learn how to take a bit back
Didn't we have this argument before with Chippy, who claimed those who don't go to games aren't real supporters. Funny isn't it, as karma raises its ugly head, chippy's in another country and can't get to games. Those who go to games, those who can't, for whatever reason, and those overseas are all equal Leeds supporters together.
Can't agree with that statement I'm afraid, someone who has the means to go games but makes no effort,is never as good a supporter as one who goes all the time. And what do you mean Chippys in another country and can't go games, wasn't he at Villa on Sunday ?
He was buying a home in Spain and believe he did that, of course he may have pulled out due to his illness but wasn't he having a load of work done on the property? He then recently spent a week in Dubai he was sup[posed to be at the Villa game and then went straight to Manchester for the Josh fight, so no idea anymore of whats fact and fiction
Not going to argue with you Chesh, you're entitled to chippy's opinion.... However, I mentioned, Elland provided the example for those who can't get to games all time. Ell does one hell of a job on this forum trying to make sure the ones on here who can't get to matches get the links to watch the match on internet. He also does a great job searching for, and providing information so we the members can read it, and then reply with our own opinions. Those from Ireland, Norway, and other Flemish Countries get over once a blue moon when they can. Those in Countries like Australia, America etc etc get up in the early hours of morning to watch the game. The ground only holds so many supporters, can't fit every supporter in there during a game, and only so many tickets become available for away matches. Leeds fans, far and wide show their support in one form or another, even if it's taking the time to watch it on telly, internet or listen to it on radio. No malice Chesh........
