This was copied from yesterday's Evening News - Really shows the difference between the form of the top 2 and the rest. Also highlights the GD of the various teams and I hope we can carry that form into the playoffs. Good Luck to all the teams involved in the playoffs and my only hope is that all of the games are remembered for the football and not any dubious decisions by match officials!!!!
Oh for Blackburn, Brentford and Derby wins today so the Binmen miss out and a victory for football over hoofball
I imagine lots of fans of the other teams will be wishing the same!!! I'm sure fans/supporters at all the matches will be keeping one eye on the game and one on the various websites giving regular updates!!!
Don't suppose you have the table for the 1st half of the season.? Not sure that any of the four teams in the play off are taking outstanding short term current form into the next two weeks, if any it's probably Brentford, there are certainly games over the past few weeks that both yourselves and Boro probably feel they should have done better in, if anything our form was probably better in the last 1/4 of the season than it certainly was for the first two months of 2015. On a side note would many of you Budgies have took 3rd at the start of the campaign? I know we would have deffinately took 6th, honest replies only pls.
I definitely would have taken anywhere in the top six to be honest, I loved Neil Adams dedication to the club but I was never confident in his ability! It's disappointing though to have had auto in our own hands recently and for it to slip away!
Excellent post Hoppersblue10. When you consider we were 11 points behind Bournemouth when AN arrived - damned right we would have taken 3rd at the end of the season. I think when we were beaten by Wigan the next game after you came to Carrow Road was a big dent to our hopes of an automatic spot, as was our defeat by Boro when they came to CR. Also the manner of our defeat by Reading at CR was shocking!!!
In all honesty - disappointed that we did not get an auto spot. DM, in hindsight, made the wrong appointment although at the time, alternatives were not exactly plentiful. Given our position in mid-December, 3rd turned out to be good, but not as good as perhaps it should have been. Far too many points lost in November.
Would I have taken 3rd? Definitely, without a doubt, and I think it's a slightly odd question to ask. Any play-off place is always great, as it gives you a chance at promotion, obviously. And over the summer, while we felt we probably had the best squad in the Championship plenty of us were under no illusions that it would be anything other than a difficult league to get back out of. What I think you mean is would I have been disappointed though? Honestly, yes. I thought we were good enough for an auto spot, and probably for the win as a whole. So 3rd was not below expectations but it is below what my hopes were back then. That being said, from where from where we were in January, 3rd is absolutely fantastic
I will probably be accused of being arrogant by the Binmen but with the squad we have I expected 2nd spot at minimum. I really don't want to keep going over old ground but I'm still fuming with a certain CEO for appointing NA in the first place. I might just forgive him if we win the playoffs, if not I consider this season as a complete failure.
I doubt it mate but we'll never know, hopefully in a fortnight 's time we'll be celebrating a Wembley win and we won't give a ****
We were top and came back from our ****ty patch to 7th when he was fired. Bassong would not be playing for us and our defense would have still been hapless though.
Not arrogant at all KIO....TBH I thought with the squad you had and the start to the season you made I Thought you were nailed on for an auto spot...even when you had your dip and the replaced NA. I still thought you had the squad to finish top two, in all honesty I fancy ourselves over two games against anyone.....apart from yourselves..we doubled Watford, shared two draws with Bournemouth, shared wins with Boro, a win & a draw v Brentford, as for the other top six finisher...I seem unable to recall the outcome of those two encounters! I did actually ask the question based on the start of the season, some replies seemed to have forgotten that, I honestly thought it would have been yourselves and Derby!
Tell you what Hoppers I'd feel well pissed off if I were a Rams fan and wouldn't be at all bothered if the Wally with the Brolly left for the poisoned chalice that is NUFC
When they signed Benty and Ince I could not see them falling away....they missed Martin when he was out, he clearly makes them tick. Wally with the brolly, gotta love that!
Try again What a fantastic achievement by AN to overhaul such a MASSIVE deficit and almost sneaking an automatic place. All credit ti him and the team!!! Edit - sorry, there must be some overlap, as the points totals don't add up, but I think it's close enough, as I know we were 11 points behind Bournemouth when AN took over.
Not sure I understand your logic, KIO. If Adams had not been appointed, the likely candidates were MacKay and Lennon. Would they have done better than Adams? I doubt it. Alex Neil wasn't even a consideration last summer and we might not have him now if things had gone differently.
Looking at this table again, am I right in thinking it is before Saturday's matches? So in fact we ended up one point above Watford for the second half of the season?
A strange stat is that we actually got one more point away from home than we were able to get at home. Wembley is an away fixtures isn't it?
