Teaforthree 5lbs better than last year. I reckon Tidal Bay will definitely run.. Surely the words ' Well in!' springs to mind! finished 3rd last year, my favourite horse and god I love the way this horse takes a fance... not that Im biased or anything mind!
I was wondering whether to have a sub thread (linked from here) for long range short lists. But for now I'll put mine here. Sunnyhill Boy Merry King (needs 32 to withdraw) Godsmejudge Edit. All non runners
Shocking how lenient they've been with old boy Tidal Bay here... Talk about giving him a chance and a half. Contrast that to the mark Hedgehunter received the years after he won it, with this type of leniency he would have been a multiple winner
FOLLOWING the launch of the weights for the 2014 Crabbie’s Grand National, Timeform, the leading horse racing ratings experts, have announced that the Rebecca Curtis-trained Teaforthree tops their weight-adjusted figures. The sure-footed front-runner cut a bold sight over Aintree’s famous fences en route to finishing a brave third behind the now-retired Auroras Encore last April and, off a mark 2 lb lower this time around, makes plenty of appeal at the weights as things stand. Timeform Jumps Handicapper Phil Turner commented: “Of course, much can change between now and April 5th, as plenty have probably been protecting their handicap marks until the National weights were announced. But Teaforthree looked an Aintree natural last year and is likely to make solid each-way appeal even if a few better-handicapped rivals were to emerge before the big day.” Teaforthree will be bidding to become the first National winner since 2004 hero Amberleigh House to score after being placed in the race previously, and he could be joined in that quest by 2012 placed pair Sunnyhillboy and Seabass. The statistics don’t bode quite so well for the popular veteran Tidal Bay, as you have to go back to 1923 winner Sergeant Murphy to find the last thirteen-year-old to taste National success, though Timeform still rate him as one of the more likely winners due to the BHA’s policy of favouring those towards the head of the weights nowadays. Turner added: “Tidal Bay has been allotted a mark 7lb lower than he’d have been asked to carry in a conventional handicap, so he’s clearly one of the best-treated runners despite top weight. “As for his age, he’s finished a narrow third in the Welsh National and runner-up in a Grade 1 on his last two starts, so it’s safe to assume most of his ability is still intact!” Potentially the best-handicapped runner in the field, however, is the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run, who has rather lost his way this winter (rated accordingly) after several seasons of consistently top-class form. Turner said “It was a similar scenario with the last Gold Cup winner who went on to claim National glory, 1975 victor L’Escargot (who, like Long Run, also wore headgear latterly), whilst it is worth bearing in mind that Long Run’s amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen can boast one of the best records over the National fences amongst current riders.” TIMEFORM WEIGHT-ADJUSTED RATINGS 180 TEAFORTHREE 179 TIDAL BAY 178 HIGHLAND LODGE 178 WAYWARD PRINCE 178 SHAKALAKABOOMBOOM 177? Old boy Pricewise has this morn put up TeaForThree (25/1) and Mr Henderson’s Shakalakboomboom (40/1). Both have seen their prices cut as a result and the former is now either outright favourite or disputing favourtism depending on who your preferred bookie chappie is. Shocking from the ‘Racing Post’ today how on page 2 they highlight and shout from the rooftops Mr Henderson’s poor GN record (0/33 and half a dozen 1st fence fallers) – although if Mick Fitzgerald hadn’t fallen off Fiddling The Facts it would have been so, so, so, so different. Cor blimey, if tomorrow they highlight the old boy’s positives, rather than opting for negative journalism, they will need all the trees from the Amazon to fit them all in. Very disappointed in this publication today. Long Run is still around the 25’s mark which I would still advise people to take whilst the other one who appeals to me is Home Farm, not only because my fave character in ‘The Archers’ lives there, but because he ran a most eyecatching race to finish 3rd in the ‘Irish National’ last term and has put up a pair of nice, ‘quiet’, runs so far this term. 40/1 NRNB is too big, methinks.
No laughing please but I can see Boston Bob (the horse, not the forum poster) going well in this off 11-3. He would have won the RSA last season if he'd stood up at the last, and another F at Punchestown wouldn't have done his confidence any good. But Mullins has given him a couple of runs over hurdles to help that and he'll probably run somewhere at the festival to put him right for Aintree. I'd like to see him run over fences again before Aintree (he has entries in the old Racing Post Chase at Kempton plus Ryanair Chase, World Hurdle and Gold Cup at Cheltenham) but at 50/1 he is worth a little e/w snifter.
interesting to see Burton Port has undergone a wind operation since his last run - and at the weight he has got- if he can rekindle any of his old form- he has a shout of an e/w @ 28/1
Teaforthree - 3rd last year and nailed on for a place for me at least! I dont know why any of you need to look any further. 20's with BetVictor 5 places and NRFB if he doesnt line up. Its printing money for christs sake!
She told him she wouldn't marry him Ron, simple as that. And he didn't want to get jilted at the altar.
Heres the list of remaining 73 runners for the Grand National which was posted today. I note that Pete The Feat has been taken out of the race which surely means Noel Fehily rides Teaforthree. Curtis will be chuffed and I expect the jockey is pretty excited about that too..I can not see this horse out of the first 5. 1) 121-1532 TIDAL BAY (IRE) 13-11-10 Andrea & Graham Wylie Paul Nicholls At present my short list consists of: Teaforthree Godsmejudge Big Shu Burton Port Mountainous I have taken Sunnyhill Boy off
Nicholls has confirmed jockey bookngs for his National runners and Im surprised to see Noel Fehily rides Rocky Creek as I thought he would be snapped up to ride Teaforthree. However the owners of Teaforthree say Nick Scholfield has done nothing wrong and they want to stay with him. Quite interesting......................
Much as I wouldn't begrudge T43 a victory in this I couldn't be having 10/1 about anything in a 40 runner race over 4.5 miles. Now that Bet365 are offering NRNB I've settled on a couple. One with a touch of class carrying a reasonable weight and the other towards the bottom with decent previous over the national obstacles. Quito De La Roque @ 66s. Classy horse on his day I reckon this one will out run his odds if he turns up. Showed up well for a long way in the GN trial at Punchestown before finding a few with feather weights going past him at the end. Chance Du Roy @ 40s. Towards the bottom of the weights and has an excellent record over the national fences with a first and second from 3 attempts.

Cheers stick. That site is in the thread header and there are lots of options from there but the one you have drawn attention to is particularly handy so I'll update the header with a direct link to it. PS. Great fun playing with that
